Izuku Midoriya knew that in this society, being a Hero was everything, he also knew that not every man was ever born equal. He figured it out for the first time when he never developed a quirk, the words "Sorry kid, it's not going to happen" bounced around in his head for years. Those words got him bullied at school, those words let the school mess with his tests, those words lost him his best friend Kacchan.
Those words forced his father overseas and his mother to work long hours, just for him to get an accessibility item from one of the only support company that would accept 'people like him'.
But that falls under the second time he learned about everyone not being equal.
He was just about 13 when it happened. He was on his way back from school when a villain started causing chaos from out of nowhere. He just started to analyze the villain's quirk, metal blade, and the fight with Endeavor.
"The villain has a quirk that allows them to generate blades on their body? This means the number 2 hero Endeavor needs to heat up the air so the metal becomes just barely hot to touch, making the metal in the villain's blades cumbersome to hold, but if he hits it with a direct stream of fire that could make his blades more dangerous, while aggroing the villain. Maybe if the villain had an iron deficiency-"
His train of thought was interrupted when the villain grabbed him and held a sword to his neck, threatening Endeavor to 'back off or the kid gets it', although Izuku couldn't remember every detail clearly past a certain point coming up, because Endeavor didn't listen to the villain and rushed them, spewing fire at the villain, who blocked with his blades.
If Izuko was asked if he remembered what happened next, he'd say no, that he didn't remember the agony of the newly super heated blade barely missing his chest, striking his limb, cutting clean though, and the screams, his or the crowd's he didn't know as the white hot agony burn his now phantom limb.
He would admit he did remember the hospital trying to save his arm but his stump was cauterized, not that it mattered as the hospital staff gave up fixing his arm as soon as they realized that he was Quirkless.
With any legal action against the hospital or the second best hero being fruitless, the hero-obsessed society moved on from the case quickly, with Izuko returning to school earlier than he and his parents wanted. Even though Izuko expected the worst, but the second some random classmates started picking on him, Bakugo slammed his hand on his desk and loudly shouted at everyone.
"LISTEN HERE YOU EXTRAS! Almost anyone can become a hero regardless of their disabilities and if I hear you talk shit about Deku because of his arm I WILL blow you to smithereens!"
The whole class was stunned at Bakugo's declaration, and while Midoriya was touched with his statement it didn't last long.
"Comparing useless Deku and someone with a disability is an insult to the disabled community, so don't you dare insult him for his injuries again!"
Needless to say, Midoriya went home a little confused, but at least the school issue was... resolved?... back to normal.
But everything changed the day a rising support gear/gaming company showed off their newest product, a super advanced prosthetic hand that can boost one's reflexes and grip strength. It was designed originally for the company's own workers called Meta Runners but was currently available to anyone who needed it.
Which led Izuko outside of TAScorp's main headquarters.
It took time to get there, (his parents weren't exactly wealthy beforehand) but to him it was a step toward becoming a hero, to stand strong in the face of adversity and keep moving forward.
This was a part of his path to̴ b̵e̵comi̵ng̸ a he̴r̴o.
