Giselle tries to look up while squinting her eyes, and in front of her was a fancy house, as if it were a dollhouse. She walks towards it and knocks, hoping somebody will answer quickly."Giselle, is that you?" A voice was heard from afar, and even before the door was opened, Giselle sighed in relief to hear her voice within two seconds after knocking. So, the door opened, Gya looked down at Giselle and a smile formed on her face. "I'm so happy you're here! We've been waiting for you." She turned to the side, allowing Giselle inside the house. As soon as Giselle saw Emma sitting on the couch, with a cup of tea in her hand, she smiled. Not genuinely, or forcefully—she is used to covering herself with a smile to not seem emotionless. Nobody would ever notice. it doesn't even surprise her anymore.
"Emma! I missed you" Giselle said excitingly and ran to Emma to embrace her. Emma flinched and tried to keep the balance of the cup so it wouldn't spill as Giselle jumped onto her,"Yes, yes. I missed you too, please be careful or else I'll drop the tea on accident..." Emma with anxiety in her voice. "Okay, sorry" Giselle said, letting go of her and sitting straight on the couch "So, it has been a while since we all get together. Ever since Giselle joined us, to be specific" Gya said as she sat down.
"I'm sorry I've been gone for so long, especially with all these demons around. Are any of you girls hurt...Like seriously hurt?" Emma asked as she took a sip from her cup of tea. Giselle listened to her, and looked at her own arms as she said "Seriously hurt"
Her arms were almost filled with self-harm cuts and bruises. She stared at them, still with a smile and looked at Emma again and replied with enthusiasm, "No, not really!"
Gya then nods, "Same here, just stressing. Not because of the demons, but because of my actual job."Giselle looks at Gya, remembering how stressed she seemed nearly every day. As a fashion designer, Gya is used to overworking herself to the point of breaking down. Even in her store she has fallen asleep, but she always kept going. Giselle stared at the black circles under Gya's eyes, knowing that she will never stop no matter what gets in her way. Because, if the doll is safe and unhurt, she will be all right physically. But never mentally.
"Oh, Gya...You should seriously take a break, look at the dark circles under your eyes! I know you're deeply passionate about your designing, but it's good to take a break you know that?" Emma placed down the now empty cup of tea in the table and turned her head to Gya.
"I'll be okay, do not worry" Gya replied with a smile on her face. "Do you all want anything to eat? I made jam cookies last night, and there is enough for all of us" She stood up and began walking towards the kitchen. "Of course!" Emma agreed and both watched as Gya walked away.Giselle looked around the room as she waited for Gya, noticing the messiness of the house, there's so much fabric around and dresses. And of course, there was Gigi, the doll on a counter as decoration. "She looks like she hasn't been taken care of for days, has she?" Emma asks as she also looks towards Gigi. Giselle looks at Emman without turning her head and continues looking around the living room. A lot more work than you can take huh? Giselle thinks to herself.
They stayed together for a little longer than they thought. Time went fast while they were speaking so they didn't even notice the sun began to go down. Giselle stared at both and laughed until she forgot she was pretending. They really are like a family, they found each other lost on the streets so many years ago and now they wonder how things would have been if they had never met. Whatever might have happened if they didn't become dolls, they would have preferred to not know or to not experience it even if it meant losing family members. They'd prefer people who cared for them.
"It's getting quite late; do you all want a sleepover, or do you have things to do?" Gya asked as she took a bite out of a jam cookie. "Oh, sadly I am busy tonight, so I am not able to stay." Emma frowned. "I am not able to stay either" Giselle replied after her. Even though she isn't busy, she'd rather not stay. "Aw, well, goodbye you guys!" Gya then waved at Giselle and Emma as they walked out of the door.
Giselle walked through the door and waved at Emma as they parted ways. She stopped for a moment and stared at the sky and squinted enough until she saw a single star. She wonders to herself, "Why does it always take a small while to see a single star in the sky?" She stared at the star long enough she saw it was getting brighter and brighter, and bigger. She pressed the cuts on her right wrist, soon beginning to bleed. Her blood wasn't like normal blood, she could control it to form any shape she'd like it to be. So, the blood poured down, and before it hit the ground, a scythe was formed. She held it and stepped back, watching as the star hit the ground to reveal itself as a large, disgusting creature with small eyes all around it. She observed its features, remembering the first time she saw one of these demons.
"Aren't you that demon that almost killed me that one time I was 15?" She tilted her head. "You just keep coming back for me, do you?" She said unbothered. Even though she was on the verge of dying, she was never scared.
The demon's eyes turned to her, staring in horror, whispering unaidable words. Soon, it began to grow blades out of its eyelids, all shooting at Giselle. She used her scythe to block them as she ran to the demon, swinging the scythe and cutting it into two pieces. "I don't even know why you try" she said quietly, watching as the creature slowly turned into ashes, and revealing a small pitch-black pearl. She picked it up and gently blew it, washing away the darkness from it, revealing a bright, colorful pearl. She then continued walking, refusing to look back at whatever might be behind, following her. All she wants is to feel something. All she wants is to feel human again, so she lets whatever is behind her try to get to her. But it never does, the darkness cannot catch up to her, simply because she cannot feel it.She sat on her couch, staring at Gabrielle, placing her hand on the head of the doll. Thinking if she should rip it off or not, knowing that she would die if she did. The thought of it gave her a tiny feeling of not fear, but longingness. The longer she stared at the doll, the more she longed to see the head of the doll ripped off.
She placed down the doll beside her and stared around at the other broken dolls and broken vases. She looks at Gabrielle again and picked her up, walking towards the bathroom and turning on the light. She had almost forgotten how dirty it was, there were cockroaches around, and broken dolls that were covered by ants. The walls had scratches on them, and she wondered what state her mind was in at the time. But she didn't mind it for so long and turned on the sink, slowly washed Gabrielle and scrubbed her. The dirt began to fall to the sink, and Gabrielle began to shine again.
Giselle gently squeezed the water out of her and carried her to the living room with a towel wrapped around her. Gently placing down the small doll and staring at her for a moment."You and I, Gabbi. We're so similar." She began to speak to the doll.
"Do you feel the same way that I do?"
"Do you wish you were a human as well?"
She stared at the doll, as if she expected an answer, or a magical thing to happen that would cause her to reply. Even though, she knew that it was not able to do such things. She stared at the doll, holding the urge to take her and squeeze her as hard as she could. But instead, she walks to her room and lays on her bed, staring at the ceiling. Hoping to starve herself again as much as possible, to feel something.
