Chapter 2: The New Girl in Forks

Maerelles pov

In the morning I got a message from my boyfriend Jacob saying we wouldn't be able to hang out because his childhood friend was coming to town. I texted him that I wouldn't mind tagging along and meeting her, he took a long time to reply but ended up saying yes. So I quickly changed into dark skin-like nylon tights with sheer black tights on top of those, they were sewed together so it looked like I was just wearing tights. I put on a short mid-thigh black skirt, some black socks, white leg warmers, black Merry Janes, a white soft top with a collar, and a cream sweater on top completing the look. Before I walked out of the motel I was in I grabbed my backpack and waited for Billy and Jacob to arrive.

The ride to Charlie's house was strange. Jacob wasn't as touchy as he usually was or as talkative but I blamed it on the nerves. I mean this would be the first time he was seeing his childhood friend since she moved. Billy honked the horn alerting Charlie that we had just arrived, Charlie was the first one to come out of the house.

"I heard you guys coming from all the way down the road" Billy said as Charlie and Jacob helped him into a wheelchair.

"Good to see you" Charlie replied. Bella soon came out of the house to examine us. She was pale for someone from Arizona, her brunette hair was longish past her shoulders.

"Bella, you remember Billy black" Charlie said looking at Bella. "Yeah" she replied as she shook Billy's hand.

"Well, I'm still dancin' I'm glad you're finally here. Charlie here hasn't shut up about it since you told him you were coming." Billy said, trying to tease Charlie a bit.

"All right, Keep exaggerating, I'll roll you into the mud." Charlie replied jokingly

"Right after I ram you in the ankles." Billy said, taking several rolls at Charlie, who dodged him. I chuckled before looking at Jacob who was just shaking his head at their two fathers. He shyly approached Bella.

"Hi I'm Jacob. We made mud pies together when we were little kids." Jacob introduced himself by trying to start a conversation. I walked over to them as Bella answered "No, right I remember..."

"Bella you don't have to lie, not everyone remembers mud pies. I'm Maeralle but you can call me Mae (M-a-y)" I said, putting myself into the conversation. Bella smiled at me before asking "Are they always like this?" referring to the two dads fooling around as if they were kids.

"It's getting worse with old age" Jacob replied. Charlie then pats the hood of the truck next to us, addressing Bella "So what do you think?" he asked hoping she'd like it.

"What?" she asked confused

"Your homecoming present" Charlie

"This?" Bella replied, she was baffled. she couldn't believe she was getting her own car.

"Just bought it off Billy, here" Charlie pointed out.

"I totally rebuilt the engine for you" Jacob said

"I helped a bit, in what I could anyways" I said butting in.

"Oh come on. Oh my gosh! This is perfect. Are you joking with me" she exclaimed. Bella beams. It's the first genuine smile I've seen on her. Charlie smiled too, it was nice seeing him smile so widely. He hadn't done so in such a long time, at least not since I got here.

As Bella rushed to the truck she opened the door and accidentally hit him. Causing me to chuckle a bit as she panicked before quickly apologizing "Sorry" she said as she climbed in.

"I told you she'd love it. I'm down with the kids" Billy said jokingly.

"You owe me 10 bucks" I told Charlie.
