~Erica's POV~
I sighed as I walked into my bedroom. School was kicking my ass. I then smiled to myself as I grabbed my white Xbox controller. I laid back against my headboard as my system started up. I closed my eyes and I sighed again. School is such a pain in the neck. The demons who teach you....the facility that don't give a shit as long as they get paid at the end of the day, and the peers and classmates that whenever they open their mouths...their (and everyone's around them within a 10 mile radius) IQ's drop! I opened my left eye as I heard the Xbox notification sound come from my TV.
Ohler99 wants you to join an Xbox Live Party
I chuckled under my breath as I selected accept with my controller.
"Sup dipshit. I mean Joey." I teased as I went into the party.
Joey chuckled. "Hey Erica."
"What's up with y-"
Another notification.
TheLastGamer131 has joined Xbox Live Party
"The Ruskie!!!" Joey said.
"Hello." Tim said in his low voice.
Wait for it....
Three more notifications.
ZOMB1EKILLA117 has joined your Xbox Live Party
SweetMatoi has joined your Xbox Live Party
Nervburn has joined your Xbox Live Party.
"Will, Sky and Rylan!" I said.
The three then answered with a series of "sup's" and "hey's".
"You guys wanna play Halo?" Joey asked the group of teenagers.
No one said a word as their TV's showed the intro to Halo: Reach.~Time Skippppp~
I laughed as I ran Rylan and Tim over with a Warthog, earning a double kill and sealing my and Joey's score in a tie.
"Dammit!" Rylan yelled. "How in the hell can they keep beating us like that?!"
"You can't just beat the King and Queen of Speed Halo, asshole!" Joey retorted.
All of us (except Rylan who was being a jerk) started to laugh as Skylar started up a Campaign mission.
We were running through The Package when our mics started to act up.
"Hey guys?" I asked. "I can't be the only one with a shitty mic right?"
"Welcome to the game."
What? "Guys?" I asked again. "This isn't funny."
"Welcome to the game."
"E-Erica?" I heard Will's voice static through my headset.
"What the hell is going on?!" Joey asked in confusion.
"Enter the game."
I then heard the guys start yelling in pain into their headsets.
Before I could reach out to them, a tsunami of pain rushed over me. I couldn't even cry out for help before I blacked out from utter pain.I awoke with a groan as I sat up on the dusty ground. This isn't my bedroom. Will an Tim ran and helped me to my feet. I blinked and looked around. Shit.
"Erica," Skylar said. "welcome to Reach!
"Reach?" I said, slightly panicking. "As in Halo: Reach? What we were literally just playing?"
"Wow," Rylan scoffed. "She catches on quickly doesn't she?"
I walked up to Rylan and slapped the smirk off his face with a satisfying thwap. "I have been waiting to do that for so long." I said smugly.
"If you are done socializing, I'd like to get on with the game."
"Who said that?" Will asked.
"I'm glad you asked, young gamer." The voice said. "I am the Game Master. And you are my characters. So let's get you in the right gear shall we?"
I looked down and saw my t-shirt and jeans turn into full grey and blue Halo armor, exactly like my avatar's. I looked up and saw the rest of the guys were wearing their avatar's armor as well.
"That's better!" The Game Master said. "Now, let's give the prophecy its heroes."
Well shit. A prophecy. Fucking great.
"I know you're wondering so I shall tell." Game Master said. "There is a great evil that has come over the video game universe. This evil shall only be defeated by six heroes bound together by the games. The heroes shall travel through eight games and at the end of the eighth, shall face The Virus. If they defeat The Virus, they shall return home, if not, then they shall perish and doom the universe forever."
"And you think that's us?" Will inquired.
"Positive."
"Alright then." I said. "What do we do?"
"All that's left is to claim you as the heroes of legend. Each of you shall have a new name and a marking on your body, symbolizing your strength and your team. Let's begin. First, the inseparable duo. Will and Tim, step foreword."
Will and Tim obeyed as the Master went on.
"For this duo, I give thee Beta and Theta."
Will and Tim then hissed in pain as the frantically tore off one of their gloves. Each had a symbol of a golden sword with blue wings on their hands near their thumbs.
The Master disregarded the two and went on. "Next, the wit and the short-tempered, Skylar and Rylan. Skylar, for thee I give you Delta. Rylan I claim you as Sigma."
Just like with Will and Tim, both boys groaned in sharp pain. Rylan's mark was on his collarbone near his pulse and Skylar's was on the right side of his neck.
Joey was next. "The strength of the six! Joseph, I give thee Gamma."
Joey held his pain a little more than the others, but his mark was on his left shoulder.
All of my friend's eyes turned to me as I was the only one left. I gulped.
Game Master chuckled. "No group is without a leader."
Skylar face palmed. "Well, duh!" He said. "The symbol is Erica's emblem on Reach!"
"Precisely." Game Master said. "For the strong-hearted leader of the heroes, I give thee Epsilon."
The pain came like a shockwave. I staggered back as my face felt as if it was on fire.
Joey and Rylan rushed to keep me from falling. "Erica?" Joey said. He gasped. "Holy shit."
I uncovered my face as Game Master put a mirror up to me, where he got it, I had no clue. "Woah." The gold and blue symbol flared over my left eye.
"That is cool as fuck." Rylan said.
I smirked as Joey steadied me on my feet. I looked up at the Game Master. "So, we all set?"
"Yes," Game master smiled. "Now, good luck young warriors. I shall see you in the mansion. Farewell."
Game Master then faded away with a Cheshire Cat type smile.
I sighed. "Lovely."
All of us froze when we heard alien growls coming from every direction. Grunts and high-level Elites were closing in on us slowly.
"Well shit." Rylan said.
"Let's get to it!!" Tim said.
We all reached down and grabbed our helmets and weapons, how they got there- I have no clue, but I was glad they were there. We immediately went to our plan that we usually used- shooting at everything we see and yelling various curse words.
"Guys!" Joey said through the helmet radios. "Is it just me or are these enemies seem to be-"
"Set to Legendary?" Skylar said. "Yeah, I noticed too. They just keep-"
"Ah!! Damn!" We all turned to see Skylar with an Energy Sword through his leg. We saw a high-level class Elite standing over him with his weapon covered in Skylar's blood. Will and Rylan quickly took care of the rest of the Covenant surrounding us as Tim grabbed a Health Pack from nearby.
"Guys," Skylar said. "not to alarm any of you... But I'm dying and this feels real. Real."
"Sky," I said. "it's gonna be okay. Just-"
"No Erica," Skylar breathed. "I'm not gonna-"
I rolled my eyes. "Don't give me that bull, Skylar. You are going to be fine or I'll kill you myself you asshole!"
"But you can't-"
"Shut up. You are going to be fine, am I clear, Delta?"
Skylar laughed. "Yes, Commander Epsilon."A/N: Chapter One complete!! *happy dance* Anyway, I dedicate this to the 5 idiots in this story. I love you guys.
