Chapter 7 - First Mission Part: 2

— "Why would you do something so horrible?!" Asta questioned with an elevated pitch while standing guard in front of the innocent villagers. Atlas accompanied him, positioning himself alongside Asta to prevent the citizens from being prey to the unannounced bandits.

Magna gave it some thought and came to the realization that the intruders were not enemy soldiers, spies, or barbarians with a desire to destroy the village. Since they were unknown figures with no clear identity, Noelle decided to get behind her teammates.

— "How fascinating..." The boss muttered to himself, shifting his gaze to Atlas with a hint of intrigue.

— "Do not ignore me!" Asta nearly advanced in their direction then Atlas placed his hand on his shoulder, preventing him from doing so.

Atlas spoke up afterward with a level of power in his tone, "Asta. Refrain from taking any action you would regret. Their abilities are presently unknown to us..." He rotates his vision toward the adversary and the group accompanying him.

After being prevented from progressing forward, Asta clenched his teeth, withdrew a few steps backwardly. — "WHY DID YOU ATTEMPT TO BRUTALLY SLAUGHTER THE INNOCENT VILLAGERS?!" Asked in a loud tone.

The main individual disregarded Asta's utterance and instead turned his attention to Atlas, speaking in a collected manner, — "You are a sensible yet watchful knight. However, your efforts to restrict your magical energy has been awful. Nevertheless, I detect your energy levels to surpass that of a high noble...I can feel it, despite it being concealed."

Given that, all of the locals covered their mouths in shock, Magna clenched his teeth and Noelle perspired in exasperation.

Atlas narrowed his eyes progressively and spoke in a levelheaded tone, — "What is your business here? I am sure you have something else to do instead of disturbing these poor village's peace."

The leader smiled but ultimately offered an explanation. — "This village is in the forsaken realm, where commoners dwell. These animals... are nothing. The lowlife of humanity. Just looking at them, makes me feel disgusted... I was just trying to clear them away... Don't they look like pathetic animals to you? Why are you even fighting for them?"

A few villagers sank in disappointment. Hearing the boss' words, it left a wound in their hearts.

Asta and Magna were angry, while Noelle remained in a state of disbelief. Atlas  just gazed.

Asta's anger grew as he grasped the grip of his sword tightly, his eyebrows twisting in annoyance. — "Those people are the ones I need  to protect!" He declared.

The boss was amused by Asta's response summoned his grimoire, ready to engage in a face-off. — "I see... You value these filthy animals... " the boss said with a look of indifference.

— "Atlas... Let me teach this guy a lesson." Asta requests from Atlas while his eyes are still locked onto the boss.

Atlas closes his eyes, shaking his head as a sign of disapproval while offering an answer, — "It's our grimoire after all... but... I shall participate in the fight if you are knocked down. My eyes are open." He mentions in a playful tone, as his eyes fluttered open.
