Days passed. A lowly cricket watched as the news bugs reported that the mayor was missing and has been missing for 3 days, only now the public was made aware of it. The police were there to maintain order of the citizens while a search took place. If the president was not found or presumed dead, an emergency election would take place for a new president. The cricket couldn't care less, for that cricket was you. You were a musical cricket who played the viola da gamba constructed out of wood, with a silk bow. You played music at busk stops in order to earn food as a beggar. You had no home because housing in the city was expensive. Your wings were faulty and weak and so were your legs. Your disability gave way to many problems, but by sitting down and playing music you found your comfort place. Life was hard but decent for the moment. You'd only hope the new president could make housing more affordable, and making the economy of food more efficient.

You decided to take a break from busking, earning a bit of food enough for a snack. You waddled over to the bug bar and ordered a ginger beverage. You sat in the corner away from the commotion. And suddenly, that was when all hell broke loose.

Outside of the giant can, a wild buzzing could be heard, getting louder and louder until it was unbearable. Someone shouted for everyone to drop under the tables for cover. The city was being bombed.

You insisted that you left the bar to check what was going on. Limping outside the entrance, you spotted a legion of grasshoppers above, carrying some sort of orbs in their claws. They dropped them over the city, the orbs were rocks crashing and pelting into buildings. You suppressed a yelp, heading inside a more fortified area. A back alley hid around the corner. Everything was a blur as dozens were killed instantly around you, crushed to death, impaled by debris, or stampeded on by evacuating citizens.

The army was dispatched. But the soldiers numbered little compared to the grasshoppers, they were only ground units. The AA turrets were targeted by a squadron of aerial grasshoppers, destroying the slingshots with rocks, crumbling them to splinters. The ground troops below were being pushed back by a squadron of grasshopper infantry armed with snipers. The front liners were equipped with sharp blades, drilling into the enemy front liners.

A delayed air squadron of dragonflies was sent forth, but the grasshoppers in the air had ranged weapons, packing holes into the dragonflies exoskeletons. The elite air corps of wasps was sent out a last resort. They were too fast for some grasshoppers which fell from their devastating sting. A female wasp lead the attack. She was a veteran who knew what she was doing.

You were busy dodging the bombing attacks as you hid in the alleyway. Your foot struck against something that smelled rotten. It was a headless body! You nearly screamed as you stumbled away. When you turned around you ran into a pair of grasshoppers. You fell towards the ground, using your bow as a ranged weapon.

"This one fights back. Put her with the rest of the POWs" one of the grasshoppers ordered to his ally. The beefy grasshopper grabbed you and dragged you away. You were too weak to fight back, you made sure your viola da gamba came with you. The grasshoppers dragged you towards a giant metal container that had a psychedelic design on it. There were other shivering insects in there, being guarded. They threw you in with the rest like a sack of dirt.

Hopper led his flight squadron against the wasps who defended the city, his men took several out with their snipers. Hopper went in for mid flight melee attacks. He unsheathed both of his spiked wrist blades and lunged towards enemy troops. Colliding into them as he dug his blades deep, piercing the wasp's exoskeletons. The fell from the sky. Until he got to the strong female flight commander. Hopper shot her with his sniper point blank range, she dodged the attacks.

"This one's mine." He warned his men, who withdrew from attacking her. The female wasp lunged at Hopper, knocking him out of the sky. Hopper pulled the wasp with him, dragging her down with his weight. They both tumbled from the sky, Hopper landed on one knee, his blades to the ground. The wasp landed on all her appendages.
