Iris's POV
I'm twenty two now, well twenty two and a half to be precise. Mal and I have been married for two years and together for ten. We've been on many adventures together, to many different realms. And now we were going in a whole different adventure. We just had our first child a week ago. It was a little girl and we named her Charlotte (Charlie) Lesso-Bloom. We haven't told my mom we were expecting, we told her we were away and couldn't come visit the school like we do very often. She believed us and we called through our enchanted mirror. We have been in our cabin for almost three months now, the last months of Mals pregnancy as we decided she would carry this one. We are planning on going to the school today. I'm very nervous to say the least. I have no idea how my mom is gonna react. So here we are, on our way with a week old baby.
"How do you think it'll go?" Mal asked me. I sighed.
"I really don't know." I mumbled. I'd been going through all possible scenarios for weeks now. Just driving myself crazy to be honest. We finally arrived after a few hours. Normally it would be much quicker because Mak could fly us or I could teleport, we would switch each time but we didn't want to risk anything with Charlie. We got out of the carriage and we made our way up to my moms office. I had Charlie against my chest with a think blanket wrapped around her. I knocked on my moms door.
"Ugh what is it now?" She yelled, clearly annoyed by whatever happened today. I opened the door and poked my head inside. She wasn't looking up.
"Well we can come back later." I teased. Her head shot up, finally looking at me.
"Iris! Mal! Oh how happy I am to see you two again. It's been so long." She said happily. She quickly stood up and rushed to hug me. I carefully hugged her back because I couldn't squash Charlie. She frowned at my side hug. She looked down at the little bundle of joy in my arms. "Iris, oh my god." She whispered. I smiled.
"Mom, meet Charlotte Lesso-Bloom, your granddaughter." I announced. I could see the tears filling her eyes. "Would you like to hold her?" I asked. She nodded wordlessly. I easily transferred Charlie into her arms. She looked at her with suck a love. Mal came and stood behind me, putting her arms around my waist. She kissed my cheek while we watched my mother talk to our daughter. It was really a sight to see, the feared Lady Lesso, dean of evil softly cooing at her granddaughter.
"Congratulations you two, she's beautiful." She smiled. She gave Charlie back to me. "But I have to ask, who carried?" She asked. I looked at Mal.
"Mal did, and she handled everything like a champ." I smiled at all the memories. My mom did too.
"I'm so happy for you two." She said. "Oh and I just know you're ma will be just as happy." She said, it was her way of saying that we should show dovey before she would. I got the hint and took off to Doveys office. Mal knocked this time.
"Come in." She called in her usual cheery voice. We walked in, seeing ma sit at her office. "Iris, Mal! What a surprise." She said happily. She gasped seeing Charlie in my arms. "Who is this little angel?"
"This is Charlotte Lesso-Bloom. Your first granddaughter." I responded.
"She's so beautiful." She whispered with teary eyes. I offered Charlie for her to take. She did, holding her like she could break at any time which honestly felt like that could happen.
"Hmm I know, Mal did a great job." I said before kissing my wife's cheek. I loved my girls more than life itself. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. It opened and mom walked in. She smiled seeing dovey holding Charlie. She stood next to ma, an arm around her waist. "Mom, ma what's going on?" I asked.
"We wanted to ask you two something." Mom started. I frowned thinking something bad had happened.
"What is it?" Mal asked seeing as I couldn't get any words out.
"We wanted to ask if the two of you wanted to become teachers, here at the schools. Since merger of good and evil we're a few teachers short and you seemed like the perfect fit." Ma continued. Oh yeah, I totally forgot that happened. Since that Sophie girl came here everything changed and now the two sides are one school.
"What would be teach?" Mal asked before I could respond.
"Well for Mal we thought that transformation would be a good fit. You could teach the students how to transform in an animal. For Iris we thought maybe spells and fighting. This are two different classes but as you know I normally teach spells. Since everything happened with..." she stopped. I didn't understand why she was so hesitant to finish that sentence.
"Since everything happened with Rafal and Sophie, we became the headmistresses of the school. With this position comes more work outside of classes so both your mom and I are cutting back in classes. Emma is taking over half of mine and you would teach spells together with Leo. And fighting is not a big subject, it would become an optional class for those who want." Ma explained, taking over from mom. The once so confident woman was now almost folding in on herself. Dovey moved closer to her, putting her hand around moms. She seemed to calm down a little. She whispered something but I couldn't make out what. Dovey seemed to know but I decided now is not the time to ask about it. "So what do you girls think?" Ma asked after a moment of silence. Mal stepped closer to me, holding my hand.
"Are you ready for our new adventure?" She asked me.
"Always." I responded with a smile.
