I was the second student that Hathaway recuited to his team, after Chris Knight. The kid was pretty popular in my physics class, but I never really knew why, until I met him. I had to share a room with him. It was the only bed that was open at the time and Hathaway thought it would be a good chance for us to get to know each other. He was a goofball through and throught.

I thought he was going to be more serious, but I was fairly mistaken. The tall blonde was as unserious as you could find. I think thats was made him so memorable, he could make just about anyone laugh. I heard he could make anyone fall in love with him, but when I showed up, he stopped, whether he was tired of the romancing or he finally found the one, I have no clue.

When he was around me he wasn't very sweet. I knew I was almost the damn best student here that Hathaway ever took in. Chris was always slacking off and never taking anything he did seriously. I did though. He never thought I was going to be his competition but I soared up through the ranks faster than Hathaway had ever seen a kid.

All my classes were either 105% or higher and I was serious. Chris was the most comical person that I know. It was no shock that soon Hathaway began to brag about me and start to rip Chris for slacking off so much.  I was making breakthroughs for a laser that could seal glass together, while Chris didn't even know what to start his project on. Chris came to me one day, and he seemed exceptionally pissed off.

"Who do you think you are? You think you can just show up on my terf and upstage me? I don't think so!" He yelled. I was confused and off put by his sudden interest in what I was doing.  "What in the hell are you talking about? Irs not my fault that I'm doing better than you. I am just putting in the effort that you aren't. If you wouldn't slack off then maybe you would be upstaged."

I glared and then turned on my heel to leave him where he was. The only thing that sucked about that was the fact that we shared a room. He was there just looking at me absolutely dumb founded that I was standing up to him like that. I didn't say another word and I went back to the shop where I was nearly done with my project.

Later that night I had to sneak into my room. It was well past 2 in the morning and I figured that he was going to be asleep.nwhen I silently opened the door I saw him hunched over his desk muttering. He turned to look at the clock which was normally on the back of our door, but since it was open he was met with me. "What's the time?"  "Why are you still awake?"  "Why are you?" We asked back and forth. I sigh and just close the door, going to lay down.  "It's like half past two" I whisper. He turned to look at me, but I just rolled over. "Why are you back so late. Did you finish another project or something."  I shook my head. "I was actually hoping that you would be asleep by now."

"Avoiding your roommate? Seems like that's gonna be a little hard don't you think?" He asked me, I could hear how tired he was in his voice. " Save the smartass for in the morning after you've slept a little bit more. It sounds like you need it." I said, trying to be as nice as possible. " Don't tell me that you care about my well-being now. I thought you hated me."

I shook my head and looking him with a curious face. " I've never hated you. I mean I do hate you. But I don't hate hate you. I wanted to be like you, I wanted to be better. Now that I am, I think I'm starting to realize how much being this way sucks. Why you slack off all the time. I'm exhausted."

He looked at me with a knowing face, even though he was half delirious from his lack of sleep, he seemed to know me more than I thought. " I didn't want you to be better than me, because I don't want to be inferior to you. I wanted you to be able to be happier than I was when I got here." He said with a small smile.

"You must really be a flirt to go after your enemy." I said. His smile vanished and he looked at me seriously. "What? Are you joking? You think im flirting with you because you think im that desperate? Can I not just be flirting wit you because I think that you are a very beautiful and smart woman?" He said seriously. I was slightly taken back. "What do you mean?" I ask. He looked at me in disbelief and shock. "What do I mean? I mean you are my dream girl! You are my everything. You are everything that I would ever want. Beauty and brain. The most perfect dream ever came true." He said with a love struck, soft smile on his face.
