Chapter 9

A WEEK LATER - THURSDAY

I JUMPED IN THE ORANGE TRUCK WITH BELLA this morning and now that we are finally alone she started speaking. She put the car in drive and started making her way to school

She had been trying to speak to me for the last week but I've kind of been avoiding her when we were alone on the topic of what happened during the crash

I have even taken riding my bike to school so I wouldn't have to sit in the car full of her questions but today I couldn't be bothered so I sucked it up

"How did you do that? How did you push me out of the way? I'm grateful but.. how?"

"I don't know" I said truthfully
"I've never done it before"

"So what? You have...powers?"

"They're not powers. It was a one time thing. It's not going to happen again" Bella took in my words and nodded and then changed the subject

"Do you not wonder how Edward and Caleb got to us so fast? We saw them seconds before"

"Not really" I shrugged
"If Edward hadn't been there I would've died. I guess i'm just more thankful" we pulled up to the school and got out. Most of the students were already inside but most of mine and Bella's class were close to the busses since we were going out on a trip today

Immediately I noticed Bella's eyes going to the Cullens, well some of. Emmett and Rosalie were a grade above us so they wouldn't be on the trip

"Look at you huh. You're alive" Mike said standing in front of Bella

"I know yeah. False alarm I guess"

"Hey Athena" I looked to the side and saw a guy i've seen around school make his way to me

"Hey, Taylor right?" I questioned. I knew this guy from my economics lesson but we haven't spoken before so i don't really know why he wants to now

"Good to see you're okay"
