The core of one's being is something so beautifully complex. At least, that's what Tangle's started to think as of late.

Perhaps not in those words exactly; if you asked her, she would probably say that everyone was so different, but in a good way. She was never one to put a ton of thought into these kinds of things, instead opting to live and think in the moment. Had you asked her a while ago, she would've simply shrugged and told you that all that stuff was confusing. That way of thinking started to change after getting together with Whisper, someone who had been "just a close friend" for the longest time.

Just getting to that point was a...revealing, for lack of a better word, experience in itself. She'd never really put too much thought into romance. The only thing she'd been after was a good thrill, an adventure that would get her blood pumping and the wind blowing in her hair. She never really considered what she'd want in a partner, let alone considered that said partner could possibly be another woman. Traveling with Whisper had evoked a multitude of new feelings and thoughts for her to consider. She considered that to be a whole new "adventure," one that she left feeling a new appreciation for herself, and for the wolf she'd come to adore.

Not to say she lacked confidence in herself before or anything like that; she knew her worth and kept her head up high. But, getting to embrace a part of yourself that's been suppressed, subconsciously or not, it was like a weight was lifted off her chest. She knew who she was; she was Tangle the Lemur! She was energetic, she was brave, she was a lesbian, and she was proud of who she was. No one could take that away from her, no matter how hard they tried.

"Tangle?" came a quiet voice, with a hint of concern.

She opened her eyes, turning to look at her girlfriend, who had been sitting next to her as she remained lost in her thoughts. Chaos, she was beautiful. She felt like she could get lost in those soft blue eyes—which usually remained closed around the others—for an eternity and never be upset again. Seeing how rarely they were ever fully open, she almost jumped at the opportunity. Her hair was like silk, usually kept in a neat ponytail. Part of her was always tempted to ask her to let her hair down so she could run her fingers through it. Probably not right now, though; Whisper was eyeing her like she was worried in some way. "What's up?" she asked, tilting her head to the side ever so slightly.

"You've been quiet."

"Have I? I figured you wouldn't mind the peace and quiet."

"I typically don't mind, yes, but...you're never quiet. It's not like you, so I got a little..."

"Worried? Aww, 'cause you like me?" Tangle teased as if the two hadn't been dating for months now.

"I do like you," Whisper replied, "and I want to make sure you're alright."

"You're cute when you get all fussy over me, you know?" Tangle said with a chuckle, "I'm fine. Just thinkin' about stuff."

"Oh?" Whisper began, ears pricked as a sign of her wanting to hear more, "What about?"

"Lotta stuff. Me, but like, also us? Am I making sense?" Tangle replied, scratching the top of her head with her tail. She glanced at the wolf, who seemed to be waiting patiently for her to go on. Their bond was almost funny to her, in a sense; they were completely different people. Tangle was loud, sociable, and reckless. Whisper was the exact opposite: a woman of few words, someone who preferred to keep to herself, and much more cautious and calculated. One would think these two wouldn't really get along all that well, but they just...clicked. The two of them worked so well together, in a way that made the lemur's heart soar. They balanced each other out; Whisper keeping Tangle from taking on more than she could handle, and Tangle encouraging Whisper to step out of her comfort zone and experience new wonders.
