"You seriously let her escape!? So incompetent! You all are causing me a headache..." He sighed.

After quickly learning of her escape, he was frustrated but calmed down.

'Who knew she'd be a good fighter!? I underestimated her...'

He composed himself.

He needed to try a different plan, one that wouldn't fail.

--

A month passed.

Taking in the late noon sun, you went out for a walk that morning. It's as if you didn't experience getting kidnapped. But when something bad happened, it never really affected you regardless.

Your father would treat it as insignificant as long as you were fine, and you would react that way too.

The last time he was shaken up by an event was when your mother died. It changed him into who he was now. He never talked about her and evaded answering about her when asked.

You don't have many memories of her. But you treasure the ones you do have.

You fondly remember being in her warm arms and hearing her voice when you were younger. You've long come to terms with her death, but your heart yearned for love still.

You hadn't realized the tears in your eyes and wiped them away. Suddenly, you got a call from an unknown number.

You answered it anyway.

"Hello?"

"Y/n? Is that you? I got a new phone." You heard a familiar female voice.

"Lisa? Oh my god!" Your tone was filled with excitement.

"Yea! I just came to Korea, and I got a new Korean phone number." You heard her smiling from the other end.

"It's been years, I'm so happy you're back!"

Lisa was a good friend to you, but you both had grown distant after she went to study abroad. This was a pleasant surprise to you as you had missed her greatly.

"We should hang out soon now that I'm back."

"Yea, that would be great. You know there's a popular bar that opened up after you left. We should totally hang out there! Hold on, I'll send you the address. " Your voice was delighted to see her again and enjoy each other's company.

You ended the call, sent the address, and added her contact information. After arranging everything, you drove to the bar and looked around for her.

"Y/n!" You heard a voice from behind you and saw Lisa.

"Lisa!!!" You opened your arms and hugged each other.

You two enjoyed a good time there. You both talked about your different lives and bonded just like when you were younger.

Being with Lisa on the dance floor, trying out new drinks, and chatting until you've run out of topics. You enjoyed yourself tonight.

It was reaching midnight at this point, and you two were definitively drunk. You both spoke in slurred words and tried to balance yourselves. You were starting to get drowsy.

"I'm so tired... Let's go home."

"I know right Y/n-ah. I'm tired too..."

You two got up, left the bar and clumsily walked on the sidewalk. After walking past an alleyway, you noticed something. You inched closer to see clearly.

A pool of blood and a man's body lay on the ground. You stood there watching, not knowing what to do or if it was real in the first place.

'My mind must be playing tricks on me...'

"Y/n?"

You turned and walked back to Lisa, putting the sight out if your mind.

"What happened?"

"Nothing, just thought I saw something. Nevermind that. We could crash at my place since it's not far."

"Sure."

So you and Lisa went back to your house and slept.

You were woken up by the sound of knocking and someone ringing the doorbell. Lisa was still asleep and you were annoyed by the sound that verberated throughout the house.

With a strong hangover fogging your mind, you still managed to get downstairs and open the door.

"What is it?" You asked in a confused tone, not fully awake.

Two men dressed police uniform were at the door.

"Good morning, Miss Lee. Sorry to barge in, but we're here to ask some questions about the death of Jung Shihyuk." They said seriously.

"Excuse me?"
