He takes out another rock and throws it. After throwing one rock he throws another and another. Eventually one hit hit right in the face. Taking the opportunity I turn right disappearing behind a tree and run in another direction. After running for a bit we hide behind a tree. He's a few feet away, looking around holding his head. I quietly give Malakai a high five, "Nice throw little bro! You hit him right in the eye!"
He smiles proudly, "That was nothing!"
I chuckle and pat him on the back, "You're cute for a teenager. I think you should stay like this. It's a good personality."
He scratches his cheek, "I'll try, but we have no idea what's in store for us."
The man in the cloak starts slowly walking towards us. I cover Malakai's mouth and whisper, "This isn't good."
After looking around for a while he gives up and runs in the other direction. I let go as we let out sighs of relief. Malakai goes to leave but I grab his arm and shake my head. He says quietly, "Why? He left."
I whisper and pull him back, "He might just be waiting for us to leave our hiding spot. We should wait for awhile before leaving."
He scratches his head, "Okay... Whatever you say, big bro."
I sit on the ground and sit him next to me, "Stay as quite as possible then, in an hour, will run for our lives. Got it?"
He clings onto my arm with a nod, "Okay. I'll be as silent as a mute."
I let out a quiet chuckle, "You have to stop talking to be as quiet as a mute."
He stays silent, so I don't speak either. Only a few minutes pass before the forest is filled with a cold fog. Both of us start shivering, we can't just sit around in the cold like this. We might get hypothermia and die. Suddenly I hear hundreds of heavy footsteps. My heart sinks as I look behind us, ugly monsters of many sizes and shapes are coming our way. Grabbing my brother's arm I stand and run as fast as possible. However, the monster see us and start chasing after us at full speed. We barely caught our breaths after running away from the cabin so we are exhausted. It doesn't take long for them to start gaining on us, at this rate, we might die. We wouldn't be able to fight off that horde even if we did have weapons. I look behind me to see that they are close to grabbing Malakai. With a deep breath I throw him ahead of me and run to the horde. Malakai slows down to look at me, "What are you doing!?"
I yell out, "Go! Run! I'll try to hold them off! Keep running until they are gone!"
He reluctantly picks up pace, "But what about you!?"
I jump onto a monster, "I'll be fine! Once I get these guy off my tail I'll go looking for you!"
With a nod he runs away as fast as he can, it doesn't take long for him to disappear in the distance. I jump off of the monster and throw dirt in it's eyes before running in a different direction. I just run and run without ever looking back, I run so fast that all I can hear is the wind. I run until I can barely feel my legs. I run until the forest starts growing thinning and thinner becoming a meadow. I finally stop and look behind me, The monsters are gone. Seeing that they aren't there doesn't make me feel relieved though, I still have an uneasy feeling. I feel like I'm being watched, like someone is laughing creepily in the distance. It sends shivers down my spine, but I don't have any time to dilldaly, I have to find Malakai and now. As I run back into the woods it seems almost every little noise is echoing in my head. The breaking of a branch, the creaking of the trees, the shaking of the leaves and even the sound of my own heart. Every sound makes me jump and run faster. It doesn't take me very long to find the part of the forest where I separated from my brother. Tracking where he went, I run in the direction I saw him go. There are footsteps and broken branches forming a trail. Hoping they'll lead me to Malakai, I hesitantly follow them. Soon, one track becomes two, someone started chasing him. I crouch down to inspect the third party footprint only for my heart to sink. It's the footprint of the cloaked man. He found my brother. Panicking I chase after their trails as fast as I can. I stop dead in my tracks, the trail stopped. At the end there is traces of a scuffle but then there are hundreds of heavy footprint going in a bunch of different ways. I fall to me knees, this can't be happening. He has my brother.
