Overpopulation

Part 5 - End

(Luna POV)

I wake up to the sound of people running around. I get up and go out into the hallway. Everyone is moving and panicking and boarding more people on the ship. I try to find someone who I could ask about what's happening.

I turn around and see Leo, I run up to him and grab his shoulder, "What's going on? Why is there so many people?" He looks at me with concern on his face.

"Something happened with the pills. Apparently there was a defect with one of them and it got someone sick. Then they started to die and waste away. But they didn't die at all, and their bodies are practically rotten. It's like they just lose their minds and become animalistic and ravenous. Basically almost like zombies? But they don't come back from the dead, so they are more like aggressively crazy. Well, people call them the 'Ravenous', 'Wasted or Wasting', or the 'Sick'."

"So, a 'zombie apocalypse', ey?"

"This isn't the time for joking! It spreads fast once scratched or bitten, and especially since there are so many people. We got almost everyone we can help, so we gotta go."

"So overpopulation is a big contributor? Of course. How many people we got?"

"About 200 people give or take." I nod to his response. My eyes widened in shock.

"Wait, we are leaving now? How bad is it out there? My animals-"

"Don't worry! Victoria had already gotten everything packed for us all." I let out a sigh of relief. I nod and go back to my quarters. On my way there I see Victoria talking to Suri. I walk by quietly and listen.

"Mom, I already started the renovations on the planet. It's great, just need more plants, and from what I've heard, has wildlife."

"Alright, that's good. At least we have a home."

I smile. Well, at least I know she's good with the planet. I continue walking to my room. I get in and see that somehow it was even bigger, and all full of my belongings. Of course she found some way to make this ship even cooler. Able to grow in size, damn Vic you outdid yourself.

I lay down on the bed, looking at the ceiling. I suddenly feel the ship move fast, jittering from it's own speed. I jump up and run out of the room to see what's happening. I run into Suri as she is hanging onto a wall for balance.

"What's happening?!" She looks at me surprised for a second. Then her face erupts into a sly smile.

"Well, seems our little Mr. Mechanic Leo finally did his job right. He was able to put the ship into hyper speed." I stare at her, finally understanding.

"So, we'll get there quicker?" She nods. The ship comes to a halt.

"Looks like we arrived." She states, walking past me and towards the meeting room of the ship. I hear moving and loud chatter as people move around. I slowly go through with the crowd and am brought out of the ship and back on the planet. I was surprised. It's suddenly full of lush vegetation and life?

I turn to Suri, a quizzical expression on my face. She smiles.

"What? You didn't expect me to just leave it bare before we left, did you?"

I smile," Of course not."

We all load our belongings of the ship and start sorting out our new home. I look up at the sky, and see a beautiful sunset through the gorgeous landscape. Victoria really did it. She solved the overpopulation, and saved us. Gave us a new beautiful home. I hear clucking and look down to see Artie and the chicks, as well as my other chickens and animals. I smile fondly and sigh. Home sweet home.
