Percy's POV

The next morning, we quickly packed up our tents and continued our journey westward. In all honesty, I was glad to be on the move again. I did not want another camper to find us. I almost ripped Malcolm's head off. It's a good thing I didn't though. I really didn't need an angry Athena chasing me around right now.

We covered up the fire pit, stored the extra elk meat from dinner last night, packed up our tents, and left.

6 hours and 38 rofl sessions later, we reached Cali. We hailed a taxi and told the driver to take us to Glass Beach. A couple hours later, we reached Fort Bragg.

I handed the driver a wad of cash and Thalia, Phoebe, and I climbed out of the cab. We made our way down to the beach, which was surprisingly empty. All that was there was a thick fog that we had trouble seeing through.

Quickly becoming annoyed, I used my powers over water to lift the fog around us so that we could see and not trip over rocks and fall on our faces.

Finally being able to see, the girls and I made our way down to the water, where we felt a powerful and evil presence. Although my sisters didn't know what it was, I did, and I knew that it was not a friendly person here to offer us chocolates and roses. This was Nyx. And she was probably planning on destroying us. Oh well. That's just the relationship fate and I seem to always have.

When we were 10 yards from the shore, I stopped my sisters to prepare them for what we are about to face.

"Listen. What is down t that shore line is something very powerful and very dangerous," I started.

"Just spit it out already, little bro. What's down there?" Phoebe asked.

I took a deep breath before replying. "Nyx, goddess of darkness and night."

The girls gasped. I could tell they were shocked, but didn't have much time to speak. Just as they opened their mouths, a feminine voice boomed out from the thick fog.

"Bravo, Perseus Jackson. You are correct. I am Nyx, primordial goddess of darkness and night, and bringer of your doom," she said with a laugh.

"Can't evil immortal beings just leave me alone?" I mutter under my breath.

Nyx let out another evil chuckle. "Oh, Perseus. You should know by now that we will never leave you alone."

I groan. "Well then, can you all at least let me live in peace for a decade or two?" I ask.

The goddess just laughed again. "Join me Perseus. The gods are holding you back. They will not let you reach your full potential. Join me, and you will be free of their restraining hands. Join me, Perseus, and you can become the most powerful man on earth," she said.

"I'm tempted, and all," I say, sarcasm lacing my voice, "but I think I'll stick with my family. I don't want power."

"I figured you would say that. Which is why I brought this," she said, as she brought up her hand. In her palm, a midnight shy blue orb formed, in it, a constellation. But what surprised me wasn't the orb itself, but what the constellation was. I stared, shocked at the constellation of a huntress running across the sky. Zoë's constellation.

"How did you get that?" I asked cautiously.

Nyx laughed. "I am the goddess of night. I have my ways. Join me, and she is yours."

I hesitated. I had the chance to save Zoë. But in doing so, I would be betraying my family. I glanced at my sisters, who were staring at me with wide eyes. Thalia began shaking her head violently, a silent message to reject the goddess's offer.

I turned back to Nyx. "As much as I want to give Zoë another chance at life, I can't betray my family for her. She wouldn't have wanted that. So, as much as I want to bring her back to life, I will not betray my family to do so."

And with that, I let loose the swirling anger inside me. The sea responded to my rage and flooded over Nyx. Not expecting the sudden attack, the goddess dropped the orb and it shattered against the rocks.

"You idiot!!! Do you know what you have done??? What you have just caused??? Uncle will be quite angry with me now!!!! What is wrong with y-," Nyx started.

I cut her off. "You sound like Annabeth," I say, before summoning my earth shaker powers, opening a hole all the way to Tartarus beneath her feet.

Nyx disappeared with a loud scream as she tumbled back to where she belonged.

As the hole closed up, I was quickly pulled from my thoughts by a soft, feminine voice from behind me.

"Percy?"

I slowly turned around to come face to face with someone who had died 8 years ago. Standing in front of me, in full health, was Zoë Nightshade.
