TW: Gore and gruesome death scene. If brazen bulls make you squeamish, skip this.

"If you meet the Buddha, kill him. If you meet your father, kill him. Be free of everything and bound by nothing, that is what true strength is." My grandmother's words echo in my soul and rattles my bones as my body turns to hot foam. Then reshapes and elongates; I become solid once again but all I can see in my mind's eye is my mom's decapitated corpse slouched over. That's right, that bastard killed my mother. I spot the man below me, much smaller than I remember, and open my jaws to release a torrent of fire. The only thought racing through my mind is to kill this man, no matter the cost. He dodges my attack...but he doesn't counter it. I rain more fire down upon him but he simply dodges my attacks and offers no counters. My anger flares at the thought of my enemy not taking me seriously; and so I wrap my serpentine body around him to try and hold him in place but he somehow escapes me. Toji still refuses to attack me despite having the perfect opening for it. Thoughts scramble in my head as I go into a frenzy simply trying to devour my enemy at this point.

"Toji!" A young woman's voice cries out from below me. "Head south! I'll cover your escape!" She bounds towards me with smoke bombs and a cursed blade poised; ready to attack. I slam my serpentine body against her, sending the lean brunette woman backwards.

"Fushiguro!" Toji shouts for the woman above the roaring winds and the crashing trees. I turn my attention to the sound's direction and slither quickly across the mountainside to him. My jaws are open and ready to devour him. I don't care how I kill him anymore or if I lose my humanity in the process; the cracks in my heart are too much to bare.

I recoil as a flashing light obscures my visions and immense pain from the side of my mouth. When I open my eyes, Toji is gone...but the woman is still there. I suppose she will have to do. I pull her and anyone else in the surrounding area into my innate domain, Storm at Dōjō-ji Temple. We stand at Buddhist temple overlooking a river as a summer storm rages around us. Lightning flashes illuminating the small young brunette woman's fearful expression. "You stole my prey." My voice echoes across the temple; fury blinding me to all else but the shaking woman in front of me. She stumbles back and falls; her hands are the only thing supporting her up.

"Please...I have a daughter...Tsumiki. Please I want to go home to her." The rain and her tears wet her face as she stares up at my looming figure pleadingly.

For a moment, I hesitate; she has someone like me waiting at home for her. She can go home to her daughter. Yes, but mine can't and that man got away because of her. Blinding rage and heartbreak overpowers any remaining empathy and humanity I have left; I prepare for my final attack. A large bonshō bell falls over her. I slowly wrap my long serpentine body around the bell. My tail sadistically hits the bell as I poise for my final attack. I set my body aflame and heat up the bronze bell with the young woman inside roasting to death. Her wails and screams echo across my innate domain as her brazen cage cooks her alive. Unlike her, these flames can never hurt me, this fire is just as much apart of my body as my fangs and scales. I continue to burn until the bronze bell melts against my body into a molten puddle of metal and charred remains.

Takara's flames rage on even after she melted the bonshō bell that encased the young woman who saved Toji from a similarly gruesome death. I don't even think her own father, the man who terrorized her family was killed in such a horrific manner. Whatever happened to her mother must've destroyed her mentality.

"Takara..." Chiko weeps at the sight of his giant snake for a sister. All of the pain she had suffered throughout her life just exploded into an inferno of rage and sorrow. This is the end result of pushing Takara Kubo over the edge.

"What are we going to do now? We can't let her continue to rage like this." Shoko states as we all look on in horror at her destruction.

My mind races for any plan that can stop Takara. We have to stop her here and now or else...

"If she goes too far...she might turn into a cursed spirit and then we'll have to..." Suguru mutters under his breath.

In a flash of anger and desperation I grab at my friend's shirt collar, "WE ARE NOT KILLING HER!"

"Then come up with a goddamn plan then or else we might have to!!" Tears brim around his dark eyes. I know that he doesn't want to kill Takara, but I know as well as he does that might be our last resort.

"I'm going to stop her." I answer him quietly.

"You can't! She'll kill you!!" He screams at me above the wind.

"I don't know what else to do! Fucking get me up there with one of your cursed spirits and let me handle this!" I argue with him.

"Fine. But I'm coming with you. If either of you die, I'm going down with you both." The look in his eyes are of determination and even, acceptance of all of our fates. Suguru turns his attention back to Shoko and Chiko, "Shoko! Take Chiko somewhere safe! We're going up there to handle it!"

"Ok! But you better come back alive!" Shoko shouts back.

"Satoru! Suguru!" Chiko finally says something, "Don't come back unless you have my sister." His eye is red from the tears he shed for his sister and mother; reminding us that Takara isn't the only one at stake in all of this.

I ruffle the young boy's hair, "We're bringing Takara back...or die trying."

Suddenly I open my eyes to a white void. Am I dead? As that grim thought crosses my mind, I find that I'm not alone; standing across from me is a young woman with sage green hair and familiar golden eyes. Her presence is one of deja vu; I just couldn't place where I knew her before, just that my soul feels some sort of kinship with her.

"What did you lose to cause you this much grief, child?"

"My mother..." I choke out as the tears begin to form once again.

She walks over to me and kneels in front of me, "Your heart is breaking...but it's not yet broken. You have somewhere else you should be." Her hand rests above my chest where my heart would be. "Go back, they're waiting for you."

"Ta- Takara!" I snap my head towards the sound. That's Toru...

"Takara!! Come back to us! Come back to me!" And that's Sugu's voice.

"Takara...I can't lose you too..." Chiko...he sounds so alone.

"Go back home my child. Don't keep the ones you love waiting." And with that, the strangely familiar woman presses her lips gently against my forehead...just as a mother would for her child.
