A week later Nicole had just arrived at her office. She was a book editor and would often to out on assignment to help a variety of clients in editing their works. Her friend Ashley had just arrived as well.
"Good morning." Ashley said.
"Good morning." "How was your vacation?"
"Great." "Just what I needed." "Anything exciting happened while I was gone?"
"Not really." "Unless you call me running into, well, I guess you can call him my first ex-boyfriend." "Even though we never officially labeled it."
"Was it a close relationship?"
"You could say that." "He was my first kiss." "I lost my virginity to him." "I loved him."
"Damn, I'd say close is an understatement then." "What happened?
"My dad got transferred to Texas." "We never told anyone about us." "He was friends with my brother Charlie and we thought it would be awkward for him."
"Did you only have sex the one time?"
"No."
"How was it?"
"God, amazing." "I've been with other men since him obviously, but my experiences with him have always stuck with me." "I think it's because before I started hanging out with him, I was this shy bookworm type." "Then after he came into my life, sexually at least, I just let go." "Once we started having sex, I was afraid we'd get caught."
"Why?"
"He used to spend the night." "After everyone went to sleep, he'd sneak into my room and we'd have sex." "Sometimes two or three times in a row." "There was this one time we really could've gotten caught." "I was at a drive-in movie with Charlie and a couple of his friends, including the guy I'd been sleeping with, Sam." "Sam and I were alone in the backseat and he started-
"Nicole, my office." Her boss said interrupting her.
Later that night Nicole and Chase were in bed together. Clothes were all over the floor. He was holding her.
"I got a new assignment today." She said.
"Cool." "Who is it?"
"Somebody named Sting."
"The singer?"
"No." "His real name is Steve Borden." "He's a professional wrestler."
"A what?"
"I have no idea."
Flashback
It had been two weeks since Nicole and Sam had talked. She couldn't stop thinking about him. Unbeknownst to her he couldn't stop thinking about her either. It was night time. He was spending the night at her house. She was sitting on her bed reading a book. Coming back from the bathroom he saw her door was a little open and knocked.
"Come in." She said. He went inside. She immediately looked down at her book once she realized it was him.
"Hi." He said.
"Hi."
"You can look at me you know." He said coming closer to her bed. "I won't bite."
"I know that." She looked up at him.
"That's better." He leaned down and kissed her. Never having been kissed before she just followed his lead. "Goodnight."
"Goodnight." He left smiling as he walked back down the hall. She smiled.
