Chapter 9
As soon as Aurora unlocked her front door you could hear Evelyn's thump-like footsteps rushing down the stairs. "Where in the hell have you been?" She yelled frustrated before stepping into the rectangular foyer where we could be in her view.
"What the hell do you mean?" Aurora asked quickly in return, and not to mention in the same tone.
She completely ignored us as she passed right in front of us and went to the opening in our left that led to the cosy furnished living room. She had one of her hands pressed against her ear while she pratically jogged towards the home computer. Unfortunately I don't think Aurora noticed that little detail since she marched straight after her.
Uh oh.
"Hello? I'm talking to you," Aurora said, but Evelyn continued to ignore us--Aurora to be specific.
But again, Evelyn decided to pay no attention to us as she began type something furiously on the keyboard as the bright screen reflected against her sun-kissed skin.
I stifled a giggle. Aurora turned at me and raised an eyebrow. "She's on the phone," I mouthed while I made a cellphone gesture with my hand against the side of my face.
She blinked at her sister three times exact and shrugged. She then pulled me along out of the living-room and up the stairs the same time I actually did let my soft laughter out. Luckily Aurora didn't question about it.
The carpeted steps had a white wooden rail at the side that felt smooth as my hand slid against it. The wall to my left was a soft beige color with photo frames set in an impeccable diagonal line of either/or pictures with Aurora, Evelyn, and their dad. Which I still haven't meet to this day.
And it doesn't seem to bother me for some reason. I strangely noticed that I seem to get really nervous when I meet someone's parent.
"So what are we going to do first?" I asked genuinely curious because I never once seen Aurora with make-up, not that she needed it anyway, or with her hair artificialy shaped for that matter.
"Well, I figured since you never put make-up on you don't really know what to put on first, so I decided to do it for you."
"True, but . . ."
"What?"
"It's just that, since I've never seen you with make-up on, I'm actually kind of reluctant of you putting it on me." I shrugged, averting my eyes as I felt my neck and ears warm up feverishly.
She stopped at a closed door, hers I guessed, and turned around and looked at me with a vague, but still evident smirk played across her luscious lips. "Just because I prefer not to wear it doesn't mean that I don't know what a certain product is and what it's used for, or how to even put it on for that matter, Layla."
"Well, how would I know that you do know how to put make-up on correctly?" I couldn't help myself ask, though, my subconscious knowing I was still feeling hesitant.
