Stark Tower, New York May 2nd, 2012
Outside of Stark Tower, the lights of New York City gleamed against a black night sky. Bella stood next to Pepper Potts on one of the highest floors, providing them with a breath-taking view of the city. On a table in front of them was a hologram of the building itself. For the past few months, Stark Industries had been developing a form of completely clean energy using the Arc Reactor. Today was the day they would see if countless hours of research, blood, sweat, and tears would finally pay off.
Although Bella hadn't worked on the project directly, she had sat in on some of the meetings and looked over all the blueprints with Pepper and her father. She had actually been busy with college. In September she had started at MIT. She was majoring in aerospace engineering and getting a minor in quantum physics. Both were fields she didn't know she had any interest in until her father had practically forced her to enroll in the school the year prior. Now, she was top of her class and well on her way to graduating the next spring. She had never considered herself particularly smart, but she had found motivation to apply herself academically and thoroughly succeeded.
"You're good on this end. The rest is up to you." Her father's voice spoke through the intercom. He was currently in the Iron Man suit disconnecting Stark Tower from the energy grid.
"You disconnected the transition lines? Are we off the grid?" Pepper questioned him, her voice sounding hopeful.
"Stark Tower is about to become a beacon of self-sustaining clear energy." Tony spoke proudly. Although Bella couldn't see his face, she knew he was smiling.
"Wow. So maybe our reactor takes over, and it actually works?" Pepper said looking over the hologram.
"I assume. Light her up." Pepper pressed a few buttons on her keypad.
"How does it look dad?" Bella questioned him.
"Like Christmas but with more me." He said smiling.
Bella laughed, "I'm a Stark too you know."
"Fine." Her father huffed, "More us."
"We've got to go wider on the public awareness campaign. You need to do some press." Pepper suggested jumping straight to business in her typical fashion. "I'm in DC tomorrow. I'm working on the zoning for the next three buildings."
"Pepper, you're killing me. Remember the moment? Enjoy the moment." Outside, Bella saw her father land. He had installed a new system for removing the Iron Man suit which was much more efficient than its predecessor. All he had to do was simply walk forward while robotic arms disassembled his suit with ease.
