NY📍"Leo?", Porter called my name. I looked up at him to see him staring at me.
"What?"
"Did you even hear what I said? I got Cleo the job at the art studio.", he told me again. I heard him the first time. For some reason, it's taking my brain a moment to process his words."So, you're just snatching away my assistant?"
It came out a little too aggressively than I meant and he glared at me.
"I'm helping give her an opportunity to do what she loves. Now, she can focus on art full-time. Besides, you can't stand her anyway. I thought you'd be happy."
"I am happy."
"Really? Because you look like you wanna beat my ass. What's going on? I mean, Cleo said you two have been getting along, but I know you. I know how much you despise her."Despise her? Fuck, the way he says it, you would think that I curse that girl out every second of every day. She just annoys the fuck out of me sometimes.
"It's whatever, man. I'm cool either way.", I closed the laptop and placed it in the bag before standing up.
"I was wondering if I could tell her, you know?"
"Sure, do what you want. I'm going home.", I said as I patted him on the back before brushing past him. When we walked out of my office, I saw Cleo rushing to her office with Auri walking behind her. Cleo managed to get the door closed before Auri could reach it.
"What's going on?", I asked Auri as soon as I reached her. Porter knocked gently on the door. I handed him my keys, which contained the spare key to Cleo's office.
"Baby, it's me. I'm coming in.", he said as he went inside. I stared at the door for a moment before looking at my sister who couldn't seem to stay still as she fidgeted and looked everywhere but my eyes. Just as she did when she did something wrong as a kid.
"Just a misunderstanding.", I immediately knew she was lying.
"Office.", I ordered. She sighed before walking with me to my office.
"What happened with Cleo?", I said as I closed the door.
"I kissed her."
"Auri, what the fuck?!"
"Don't yell at me. I already feel bad."
"Why would you kiss her? She's supposed to be your best friend."
"I don't know. We were talking about mom and I started to feel overwhelmed, and the next thing I know I'm kissing her."
"Auriella, we've talked about this. You need to think before you act."
"You don't think I know that. I fucked up, okay? Is that what you want to hear?", she said before storming off.I walked out in time to see Cleo and Porter walk out of her office. She still looked upset.
"Can we talk?", I asked her, surprising all three of us. She nodded and walked into my office.
"Good luck, man. She won't tell me what happened."
"Auriella kissed her. She just got pissed and stormed off.His eyes widened slightly before he shook his head.
"I'll go see if I can catch her and talk to her. Can you take Cleo home?", he asked as he handed me my keys.
"Sure.", I said before going into my office and closing the door.
