It was maybe 5 am, but you wouldn't really know that (the clock in your car has been wrong for months). You were in the outskirts of Yokohama. You were parked at the only gas station you could find. Upon leaving the convenience store, you sit on the curb and take in the view of all the scattered stars in the sky. It wasn't for a few minutes that you realized you weren't alone.

"Hey."

The word leaves your mouth before you even process the thought, let alone the fact that you were speaking. Thats when his eyes, amber-like and tired, finally met yours.

"You look pretty tired," You say, pulling an unopened can of coffee from your little plastic bag "Take this."

You hand him the coffee, which he skeptically accepts. You didn't expect anything more or anything less. He didn't speak until you were unlocking your car.

"D'you think you can take me to Tokyo?"

His voice was a little hoarse, like he hasn't spoken in a few hours. You pause for a minute before nodding.

"I was headin' there anyways," You say with a short pause "So I guess it's no trouble to take you too."

The car ride was tense, but you didn't ask any questions. You didn't expect to see him again afterwards, but life apparently had other plans.
