Chapter 9: Sunday Match

"On a sunny Sunday in Arcane Haven, Leo and melvin decided to spend their day playing a video game. They chose Tekka Force, a two-player fighting game, for some friendly competition."

Leo (frustrated): "Aargh! Melvin, can you please stop using the same move over and over again!"

Melvin (smirking): "Hehe, can't escape my grab attack, can you?"

Leo: "You're just using the same attack repeatedly! Quit spamming!"

Melvin: "Am sorry, but that's not spamming. It's a strategy! That's how you win, my friend, haha!"

Leo: "This is so unfair!"

Melvin: "Oh really? You're accusing me of unfair play, but are you sure you're playing fairly?"

Leo: "Huh? What are you talking about?"

Melvin: "Show me your hand!"

Leo (nervous): "What? Why? There's no need for that!"

Melvin: "I said, SHOW ME!"

"Melvin forcefully pull his hands in front."

Melvin: "Hmmm? Playing fairly, huh? THEN WHAT THE HELL ARE THESE? WHY ARE YOUR HANDS SHAPED LIKE CAT PAWS AND YOUR EYES SEEMS DIFFERENT TOO ACTUALLY!?"

Leo: "Uh, hehe, it might have happened automatically?"

Melvin: "Don't lie! You've been using those cat power all along to increase your speed and reflexes on the controller! You cheater!"

Leo: "Well, I wouldn't have resorted to that if you hadn't started spamming! You spammer!"

Melvin: "That's no excuse! You cheater!"

Leo: "Spammer!"

Melvin: "CHEATER!"

Leo: "SPAMMER!"

Melvin: "CHEATEEEER!!"

Leo: SPAMMEEEER!!

~Ring ring~

Just as our playful argument was escalating, Leo's phone began ringing.

Leo: Huh? Who could be calling on a Sunday? Oh, it's Mia!
*Picks phone*
Mia: Hello, Leo?

Leo: Yes, Mia, what's up? Why did you call?

Mia: Are you and Melvin free right now?

Leo: No, we wer- "Alright, you two are free. Come to the sport stadium Asap," *Mia interrupted Leo*

Leo: "Hey, wait a second, Mia!"

Mia hung up before letting Leo speak.

Leo: "Ugh, this girl!"

Melvin: "Hmm, who was it?"

Leo: "Ugh, Mia. She wants us to head to the stadium. Let's go."

Melvin: "Ugh stadium? I was looking forward to a relaxing Sunday!"

Leo: "Trust me, I was too. But we can't say no to her."

Leo and Melvin left their gaming behind and headed toward the sport stadium, wondering what Mia had in store for them on this supposedly leisurely Sunday.

As Leo and Melvin reached the stadium, they were greeted by the sight of Mia and Aria, both holding tennis rackets.

Mia (playfully): "Ah, here you two are, took you long enough."

Melvin: "So what's up? Why did you call us here?"

With a determined look, Mia grabbed both of their hands and began to lead them.

Mia: "I'll explain on the way. Come, let's head to the tennis court."

Melvin: "Alright, we're coming. But why the rush? Oh, Aria, that tennis outfit looks good on you!"

Aria(blushes hard): Huh!? Aah! I.. thanks you!!

Mia: "Okay, so Aria and I were having a tennis match. Turns out, she's unexpectedly good at it. And she defeated me two on a row, and i want to defeat her once atleast! We're about to play another round.

Leo: "Wow aria, great job beating this overconfident girl a lesson" 🤣

Aria: "Hehe.. i used to play alot on school so..."
*Says to mia* But mia it wasn't necessary to drag melvin and leo into this too you know....."

Mia: "It was necessary! Am not backing off until i defeat you dear aria."

Leo: "So you called us to watch and cheer for you mia!??"

Mia: "Nope, dummy, not to watch, you both gonna play with us...., its gonna be... A double player match." ^_^

Melvin and leo surprised: "WHAT!!"

Leo (protesting): "Hold on a second, Mia. You want us to play tennis now?"

Melvin(panics): "Hehe mia, can i pass, am not really much good in sports..."

(in mind: Oh noo! Am not good in sports!! Only time i played tennis is with my small cousins, am totally gonna embarrass myself!!!)

Mia: "Doesn't matter melvin, you are still playing with us!! Tennis can be a lot of fun too. Not like you two were doing anything important work but playing video games probably.
I said you two are playing then you are!"

Melvin: "Uhh..... "Sigh".. FINE!"

Leo: "You can be really bossy, you know that?"
(In mind: Sigh* Tennis is good i guess, but i still wanted to defeat melvin in tekka force today...... Hmmm.. actually.. why not defeat him in tennis.. OH yes!! Its still a one way of winning from him, alright am in for game")

"Leo looks at melvin, and melvin gives him a mischievous and sneaky smirk."

Melvin: "Heeheeheeheeh 😈"

Leo realise melvin's ability: "Huh? Aaaaaaaa!! THIS PSYCHIC WIZARD 100% GONNA CHEAT IN GAME!!"

Melvin put on an innocent façade, "Who, me? I'm as pure as snow, Leo. I could never think of cheating ."
*Again sneaky smirk*

Leo let out a frustrated sigh, knowing Melvin's playful nature all too well.

Mia: "Leo, I'm well aware what melvin's ability can do in game, but remember, we have our powers too."

Leo: "Wait, so using powers is allowed in the match?"

Mia: "To some extent, yes, as long as nobody goes overboard and breaks the rules. It's also a way for us to practice our abilities."

Leo: "Alright, then! I'm up for it!"

Mia: "Great! So Aria, who do you want as your partner?"

Aria (smiling): "Um, well, if Melvin doesn't mind, he can be my partner."

Melvin: "Huh? But, Aria!
Whispers* You know I'm not very good with tennis, right?"

Aria (reassuring): "Don't worry, Melvin. It's okay. You will learn as we play. Just enjoy ok. *Smiles*

Melvin(grateful): Oh my! You are so kind!! Waaaa *dramatic tears*

Mia: "Okay, it's settled then. Leo and I will be a team, and Melvin and Aria will team up."

With a competitive glint in their eyes, Leo and Melvin exchanged determined looks, ready to face off on the tennis court. And with both teams set, the chapter came to an end.
