Chapter Five
Elena had spent the last four days on the beautiful Greek island of Ilios that Alexio owned. When he was not working they had spent their time walking along the beach or swimming in his infinity pool. They played cards and she read to him while she discovered he played the piano and was delighted to play for her. She had learned in their short time together that he was elder brother to Athena, who lived in Santorini with her husband Nic and their son; but that his father and mother had died over ten and eight years ago, respectively. When Alexio was working, she had occupied her time in the gardens of his villa, in his extensive library or in his study to stay up to date on the business world as well as Chantal's expenses and appointments.

Fortunately, Chantal had only called a handful of times while she had been in Greece and anything she requested could be done by phone or email. Elena was safe for the mean time but not so safe in her acknowledgement of her feelings for Alexio.

In the six days she had spent with him, Elena knew without a doubt that she was in love with him. She had never believed in love at first sight but she had to accept this for what it was. She thought of him every second of the day and dreamt about him at night when she wasn't cocooned in his arms after a long night of love making. She wanted to hear about his business dealings and his shipping empire. She loved that he was intelligent and confident and if he had not become her lover, she would have been content to have met him in a professional capacity as a mentor. The man was brilliant and above all else, she admired and respected him.

She knew she would never receive these accolades from him in return and this hurt her more than she was willing to admit. Tomorrow their week together would be over and she had yet to tell him her true identity.

Every day she had tried to tell him - admittedly perhaps not very hard - but each time she was silenced by his kisses or a caring gesture or his beautiful smile that had captured her heart. Simply put, she knew she would lose him when she told him who she was and she was not ready to let him go. Still, every time he called her Chantal, her heart broke that little bit more because he would never know Elena Thompson; the real Elena Thompson, who loved him too much, to tell him the truth.

On the evening of their last night together, Alexio lay with Chantal in his arms, sated and happier than he could ever remember being. She was playing with the hairs on his chest as he absentmindedly stroked his fingers through her hair. He had expressed his preference that it remain curly and since arriving on Ilios, she had kept it that way.

He liked everything about her.

Other than her exceptional beauty, Chantal was intelligent, witty and intuitive about his work. He had returned to Greece to conduct some urgent business and had done so during the day but returned every night to a woman who cared how his day went. She had asked astute questions that had titillated him but also begun to annoy him. Not that she asked questions, but the type of questions. How would someone of Chantal's age and breeding be so knowledgeable about business? He declined to think himself an elitist or snob but the features rarely coincided.

In addition, although they shared many things with each other including their bodies and likes and interests, Chantal shared very little else. He was not ignorant to how she avoided questions about her father or her time at boarding school or what she had been doing since then.

The irregularities puzzled him, but for all that, Alexio could not deny that he had fallen for this woman in a big way. He was not one of those men averse to showing his feelings. On the contrary, in his encounters with women, he was perfectly capable of expressing emotion and his gratitude for their company; he just very rarely had to. Until Chantal, he had yet to meet a woman who he wanted to share everything with; namely his heart and his life.
