Chapter Seventeen

***7 years later***

Over the past 7 years a lot has happened. I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl, Emma. She has my black hair with her fathers green eyes. She also has my rogue powers to communicate with any rogue and any wolf pack or no pack. She can hide her scent as well. She hasn't shifted yet but if she's like me she should be at any moment.

Our small town is nearly finished, the pain pack house is done and so are the smaller mansions and most of the single family homes. We also build a hospital, stores, a small park, and other buildings that are in the works for the future. From what I hear the rest of the states are settled as well and many of the main wolves started multi-million dollar companies to help with the expenses. It's all for luxury of course, most of us have spent years or even our whole lives homeless.

The Redwood Pack is now our enemy and we've had many small fights. My uncle however has disappeared again and so has his followers. Vera has proven she can be trusted again but I haven't given her any real position. Cassie showed up on our porch last year saying she ran away and cut all ties with her former pack. She's in training with my daughter in secret... not even Max knows. Tobias and I have been secretly teaching them to withstand torture for the pas couple months. Starting small unlike my mom who she started with the worst with me.

Cassie has been showing power like I haven't seen before. She too can mind link with anyone rogue or a member of another pack. She can also hide her scent, but what's surprising is she can change her fur and eye color. She can make so far any wolf she wants submit to her with just a look. She's... stronger then I am. She's very sweet and regal. She wiser beyond her years, even Star is shocked and a little suspicious of her. I've taken her in like a second daughter and Emma loves her, looks up to her like an older sister.

I sent small highly trained groups to packs across the state helping anyone who needs it. The same is happening throughout the rest of the states and I created a pack bank the money gets funneled through. Every head member has a card and they use it to keep their pack houses running and stocked. Anything they need and I approve at the end of each month. I've become less involved over the years, training others to do what I do. Tobias and Nadia help out with that a lot as well. I'm stuck in the office most of the days but I make time to get out and visit the town a few hours each day. Also to train Emma and Cassie to make them withstand any torture and to take over eventually once they've grown.

I sigh as I sign some paperwork, looking at the clock I see it's almost 5pm. Almost quitting time... for the office at least. From 5 to 8 I work with the pack on training. Then from 8 to 12 I'm in the dungeons training my girls with Tobias. I rarely see Max anymore, he's usually sleeping when I go to bed and I wake up before he does. Our relationship is strained but there's too much I need to do and too little people I trust.

I hear a knock on the door "come in". I call out and there he is my wonderful Mate. It makes me smile immediately. "Mate" I breath out standing up and walking to him. He smiles back and embraces me kissing my neck.

"Hello Mate." He whispers in my ear. "We are going on a date tonight" he says with a smile

"A date?" I frown "I can't I have so much work to do" I say but he shushes me with a kiss.

"Don't worry about that, Tobias and Anika will work with training the pack. And Nadia will handle the paperwork." He says reassuringly.

"Nadia is here?" I asked shocked. And right on cue she walks in with a smile.

"I am. Your Mate called and asked me to come so you could have the evening off." She says and pushes me out of the office laughing.

"Come on Mate" Max says and leads me outside where a car is waiting. He then leads me to my old hideout, the pond. It looks the same surprisingly except with a picnic in the middle. "I came out the last couple days and got the place cleaned up."

I smile as we sit at the picnic, he opens the basket and brings some food out. We spend the next couple hours laughing and catching up. We even got to Mate again for the first time in weeks. My wolf is ecstatic, she missed her Mate and so did I. As we were walking back I heard Tobias in my head.

"Alpha. We got a situation"

"What is it?" I ask as I stopped walking. Max looks at me confused.

"The King. He's back. And..." He sighs "He's teamed up with The Redwood Pack. Our spy said that they're ally's now and they're planning on starting a war."

"We're on our way back." I say with a growl. I relate to Max what happened and we turn into our wolf forms and race back to the pack house. When we get there we notice no one is outside. We soon find out everyone was ordered inside and the leads members are inside the pack house meeting space. Tobias met us out front and gave us the run down. They plan on attacking tomorrow night, at full force and they will use no man's land to hide how many there are since now that I'm a real Alpha I can't sense it anymore. Max and I go to the front with Emma and Cassie behind us to listen in and learn.

"Thank you for waiting, you all know why were here correct?" I ask as we all sit down. They all nod their heads no one scared. "

"Good. Here's the plan, all kids and any untrained members will go to the underground bunker with 20 trained members. As well as Emma and Cassie." They don't comment but I can tell they're not happy with that. "The rest will meet the Redwood Pack and my Uncle and his followers at the clearing. Tobias said he has already called for reinforcements from other states." I say and look at Tobias who stands.

"Yes I did, we have a few thousand heading this way. Most are running some are taking other means of transportation. A lot will get here in the middle of the fight so keep an eye out. They're also sending medic wolves for after the fight. The Council has been alerted as well, the Elite will let us handle this and will only step in if necessary." He nods to me and sits down.

"Thank you. Please go to the rest of the pack and let them know what the plan is. I want some members on patrol throughout the night welcoming anyone who shows up and keep an eye out for spies. And get plenty of rest we have a big day ahead of us." After answering a few more questions I dismiss everyone as soon as they all leave Emma and Cassie turn to me.

"Mom let us fight! We have the training" Emma growls glaring at me.

"You haven't even shifted yet. And you two are not fully trained, also Emma you are heir to the pack. Cassie... I'll be honest I don't know what you are but I know there are big things for you and I can't risk you dying." I can tell they don't like my answer but can't argue. "Besides, I need you two to take care of the kids and be the ears for everyone. In case some of our enemies decide to come here while we're fighting.

They sigh and nod their heads. They leave to their rooms and I do the same. I hug Max and we go to sleep on edge thinking of the upcoming war.
