saturday, november 5th, 1983..
i was a single mother of 2. they were very well behaved and i loved them both dearly. my ex husband, lonnie byers, was an abusive son of a bitch who hated certain people, me and my 2 sons specifically.
my first son, jonathan byers, was not social in his high school time. well, he — changed? he used to talk to everyone at school but now he just, sits in silence. i wish he would tell me what was going on, but he just refuses to tell me.
my youngest son, william byers, also will byers, is the total opposite. he is very social and has 3 specific friends that he enjoys spending time with. their names are mike wheeler, lucas sinclair, and dustin henderson. will would always go over to mike's house and play a game called dungeons and dragons. he loved that game.
little did i know, everything would change the night of sunday, november 6th, 1983...
sunday, november 6th, 1983
"will!! im off to work!" i yelled into his room.
"ok mom! love you!!" he yelled back.
i was happy to know that he was alright. he had plans to go to mike's tonight for another game.
"jonathan. make sure your brother gets to mike's house and back tonight. i'll be pissed if you dont." i scolded jonathan.
"ok mom, he will be just fine." he replied.
"alright, love you." i say, hopping into my car before driving off into the distance.
i was working at a general store that was in downtown hawkins. it was quiet that day, so i decided just to re-organize my store that day.
*ding ding*
i heard my bells from my door ring. i scanned the store interior for the guest that could have entered. then, i saw the customer.
"welcome to Melvald's! how can i assist you on this lovely day?" i asked the customer.
"just this." he said, setting a bottle of soda on the counter.
i rang it up. "such a fine day today isnt it?" i asked.
"yeah, its shocking how lovely it is in my opinion." he replied.
"yeah well, welcome to hawkins" i said, letting out a slight giggle.
"yeah, i guess!" he replied, slightly laughing.
"$2.03 is your total." i said.
he put 3 dollars on the counter.
"here is your soda and your change sir, have a lovely day!" i said.
"thanks you too!" he replied, opening the door as the bell rang again.
"now back to what i was in the middle of doing." i whispered to myself.
i knelt down and continued to re-organize my shelves, one by one. i then saw a loose bag of chips there. "hmm." i said, picking it up and setting it back onto its assorted shelf. "all finished." i said to myself.
10:55 pm. the clock said. "oh shit i gotta get home!" i exclaimed, packing up for the night.
i opened the door, walking out and locking it behind me, flipping the sign to read "closed" before getting into my car and driving home.
