heartstopper: nick and charlie one shots

A/N- in this story nick is a mermaid or well merman and charlie is a human, this is based completely off of art i found from alice. hope you enjoy!

charlie was a regular teen boy. well kind of. he struggled at times and preferred to stay to himself, but in the end he was still human. charlie was tall, well tanned, had black curls and bright blue eyes.

while beneath the surface of the nearby lake lies nick. he was not regular. he was a merman. he had a bright green fish tail, eyes like the dirt of the land and gorgeous blonde hair.

charlie had just gotten out of school. it wasn't a great day but it wasn't horrible either, he still wanted to be alone though. he made his way through the crowds of people leaving the school grounds and headed to a small fishing pier near by. he used to come here when the bullying was bad at school just to be alone. it has always been his comfort place. now it was just a calm place.

it was a beautiful scenic spot. the lake glowed under the sun and the trees around were a beautiful shade of green. suddenly charlie saw the same shade of green in tail form break the water and come closer.

he slowly approached the pier and looked over the edge into the water, almost scared he'd be pulled down. as his blue eyes looked into the lake he was met with a pair of deep brown eyes.

"shit!"charlie screamed as he stumbled backwards.

he took a few moments then walked over again, meeting the same pair of eyes, but they looked scared now.

"i didn't mean to yell, but you scared me. sorry." charlie spoke softly, not even sure if the creature in the water understood him.

"that happens. sorry i didn't mean to scare you either." said the unknown green tailed, man?

"oh. you can hear me."

"yep! i'm nick. and you?"

"charlie. nice to meet you nick."

"you as well."

the two continued to make some small conversation as charlie felt relieved to talk to someone who wasn't from his school. charlie then grew tired of standing, trying to peer over the edge of the pier to speak. so he sat hanging his feet just above the water.

"woah! what are these!" nick said amused and curious.

"my legs? charlie replied with a little laugh.

"i guess. legs. woah. they are cool, and soft. i wish i had legs. swimming gets exhausting." nick rambled on holding charlie's ankle in his hand as his eyes scanned his body. "honestly, all of you is cool. charlie."

charlie got flustered and pulled his legs up underneath his chin. "thanks." he mumbled from between his knees.

"yeah!" nick replied with a huge smile covering his face. he swam into the depth of the lake and then quickly dove up and made a splash, spraying charlie.

"hey! now i'm wet." charlie said in a sarcastic tone at nick who just looked at him with a grin.

"oh well." he replied, mirroring his tone and bringing his head up to rest on the pier. just next to charlie's feet.

"your pretty." nick said in awe as he looked up at the way the sun beamed off charlie's eyes and glowed in his hair.

"um." charlie spoke back not knowing what to say and shifting slightly to get comfortable, which nick took as he was uncomfortable with what was said.

"did i say the wrong thing? pretty is good, right?" nick was now worried that he has ruined anything him and charlie had just in the last 30 minutes.

"no, no pretty is a good thing i just don't know what to say back. no one has ever said that about me." charlie spoke the last sentence much quieter.

a sad look appeared on nick's face before he replied, "well i think your quite pretty, just like a sunset!" nick was proud of that comparison.

a soft blush covered charlie's face as he looked at his phone. he needed to be home soon, so he leaned down to nick kissed his damp hair. "bye, nick. i'll be back tomorrow." and he walked on home.

"b-bye." nick answered once charlie was out of sight, he was now the flustered one. his cheeks glowing pink.
