The Heart of a Dancer (Book 1 of The Heart of Three trilogy)

It has been a week since my dance company and I traveled from New York to my hometown in Cali. I got to catch up with my family and pack for the last week. That week we got a break so we could settle in but now we have to train again for an upcoming competition.

I woke up early on Monday to get ready for dance. My dance company and I graduated from high school early so we don't have to go to school anymore so that is why I am home and not getting ready for school. I looked around the bedroom I was given. It was very plain and I plan on doing some work on it to make it more my taste.

I looked at the clock and it read 8:32. I had eight minutes to get my butt downstairs and to the studio. The new studio was in the pack house. My brother had it built for us so we didn't have to delay practice for much longer. I grabbed my dance bag and ran to the studio.

I was wearing an over the shoulder shirt that says 'I ❤️ dance' on it and my black spandex. And I had my hair in a messy bun on top of my head.

When I got to the studio, I saw Twyla and Addie already stretching and warming up. I dropped my bag and quickly put on my dance shoes then joined them.

"Good morning sunshine!" Twyla yelled as I got to them and started are stretching. Twyla was a big morning person and was always joyful when we were at practice in the morning. Everyone else, not so much. I gave her an annoyed look and continued stretching.

Once everyone got to the studio and was stretched out, Holly came in and started explaining who was getting solos, Trios, and duos. This week I had another solo and was in a trio with Twyla and Addie. After everything was given out, we started on a group routine we had been working on. We worked on it for two hours when suddenly, my brother came barging in and asked to talk to us as a group. We sat in a half circle around him and waited for him to speak. He started talking after he cleared his throat.

"We have another pack that will be visiting us in two days. And we would like to put on a show in honor of the alpha and the treaty we are going to make. The show that we are doing is a dance show. So, we need you girls to come up with routines in the next two days and have them perfected by the show. Is that a problem?" He asked after he explained everything to us.

"No that should not be a problem for us. We have had even shorter notice before." Holly assured him. It's true. Someone wanted us to do a show last minute and we had exactly 6 hours to come up with an entire show.

"Great! Then it is settled. We want you to do one group routine, two trios, one duo, and three solos." He said excitedly.

"We can do it. Thank you for the opportunity Alpha. We are grateful for it." Holly said truthfully.

"Don't mention it. Thanks girls." He said. He gave Tallinn a kiss and a hug then left. Tallinn looked like a tomato she was blushing so bad. We all awed and giggled.

We got started on coming up with routines for the big show and made sure they were perfect.

(Skipping to the day of the alphas arrival)

I ran downstairs to the studio because today was the day of the big show. We were performing the show in the auditorium. Daisy was getting antsy and I asked her why. She told me to wait and see. Way to calm my nerves down Daisy!

I got to the studio and I practiced and practiced my routine until it was time for the show to begin. I was the last solo before the duets started. I went and put my costume on (A/N it is the picture and it is kind of hard to describe) and I did my hair by braiding the underside of my hair then stopping and taking the rest of my hair and putting it into a bun on top of my head.

I ran back stage and waited for my turn to preform. I peaked through the curtain and saw that my pack and the other pack filled up the entire auditorium. Even the balcony seats were filled up. I searched for my brother and found him up in the closet balcony to the stage sitting with his Beta, Dylan and with two people I didn't recognize.

I didn't have time to study them because The stage director told me I was next. I waited for the solo before me to get over. I had giant butterflies in my stomach, which was normal because I got them every time I preformed. Finally, the girls solo was over and she walked off of the stage. I waited for them to call me out.

I finally heard the announcer say," Next up we have the national title winner for 6 years in a row for her age divisions, the one and only, Hanna Hunt!"

I could hear the claps, whistles, and cheers. I had a giant smile on my face and scanned the crowd for familiar faces. I found a few and that made the butterflies settle down. I went into position and cues for the music. Once the music started, I let it take me away and control me. At one point I glanced up to the balcony where my brother and the visiting alpha was. I made eye contact with him and then the butterflies erupted in my stomach again and my wolf was yipping happily and then saying 'Mate! Go to Mate'

'Daisy I can't! I have to finish dancing!'

I tore my gaze away from my mates face and continued to dance. Suddenly a growl ripped throughout the auditorium and most of the audience members flinched. I continued to dance and when my song was finally over, I bowed and sashayed off the stage as the room erupted with cheers. Before I was off of the stage I looked up to the balcony my mate was on and he was staring at me with several emotions. I couldn't tell what they were before I was off the stage. I ran to the dressing room to change and get ready for the next number.
