Best Friends| Part Two

Chapter 9

Trey's POV

During August's get together, Genevieve shoots me dirty looks when no one's looking. It's starting to piss me off. It's not only my fault. She needs to take some responsibility in this.

Genevieve's POV

I feel like crying. I'm not ready for a baby. How could I be so stupid? Several times during the party, Trey catches me glaring at him. After my realization, we got into an argument.

"Gee." Nicki calls behind me.

I turn and fake a smile.

"Yeah?"

"Are you okay? You haven't been talking much tonight."

I was hoping people wouldn't notice my changed demeanor.

"Oh. I'm just thinking." I respond.

She nods her head.

"Because Trey's leaving?" She asks understandingly.

I shrug and say, "I guess."

She raises an eyebrow then asks,"Are you sure? You don't seem right."

"I really don't feel like talking about it now. I'll tell you later." I say.

She nods her head and walks away. I go to the kitchen, sit on the stool, and put my head down. Thinking about being pregnant is making me woozy. My parents will kill me if they hear I'm pregnant and not even engaged to the baby's father. Someone's hand touching the small of my back causes me to jump.

"It's me." Trey says.

I bring my head up and turn around to face him. He feels my forehead.

"You feelin' sick?," he asks.

"I keep thinking about being pregnant, and it's making me very anxious." I respond.

He hugs me and kisses my forehead.

"I'm sorry if I ruined your life." He says sadly.

I begin crying into his shirt. He holds me tight.

"It isn't all your fault. I should've said something. You didn't ruin my life. I don't even know if I'm pregnant."

After a couple moments, he says,"If you are pregnant, I can definitely take care of ya'll. You know I can."

"Yes. I know, and I have money saved. But, that doesn't mean I'm emotionally and mentally ready for a baby."

He fakes a cough and says,"Well, I am. I'm kinda used to these surprises. The difference is I'm not gonna find out in two years."

I laugh at his sarcasm.

"Okay. I'll wait a couple of days and take a couple of tests."

He kisses me behind my ear and says,"I'll be back as soon as I get Madison and Caleb settled. Don't take the tests without me here."

Trey might be a daddy again....

Trey's POV

The possibility of being a father again both excite and terrify me. I swore I'd take good care of my kids when I was a child. My baby is having my baby. I know she's terrified, but I'll try to change that.

"I love you so much." I tell her before kissing her lips," And I'm gonna love this baby."

"I love you more." She responds while kissing back.

"Stop sucking each other's faces and come out here," Fabian says," It's about to happen."

Genevieve gives me a confused look because she doesn't know that this is actually an engagement party for Audree and August. We walk hand in hand into the living room to witness the act of love.
