"Kids! Come on" my mother yelled from downstairs. I jumped trying to slip on my shoes. Loud footsteps and shouts came towards me. I stopped at my door as my brother and sister passed me. They held my father's hand standing in the doorway.

I moved down the steps moving outside with my family. My mother locked the cottage then handed me a basket. We locked arms carrying the basket while my father and siblings ran down the hill. "I hope they have a deal on some good bread" my mother smiled.

I nodded pondering over the many ramblings going on in my head. My father was a factory worker. Which didn't pay much but it was live able. Sometimes my mother would pitch in and sew a few things for the towns people. But now that the factory closed down we were in trouble.

So as my mother said we didn't hope there was a sell on bread. We needed the sell on bread. The town was large compared to others. The reason being we were near the capital. The kingdom and the gates the nobles stayed not too far.

Stone cement in squares splayed under us. The market was in full bloom with different vendors lined up. In the middle stood a large cement fountain with a statue splayed of the king.

"Serphanine" my mother called. I blinked looking at her and my family. They looked at me with worried eyes. "Sorry, didn't hear you. What did you say" ? "Your father thinks we should get the bread now. What do you think"?
"Yes, we should. But I need to go".

"Go where"? my mother frowned. I faltered unsure what excuse to come up with. I was never a good liar. My father held my mother's hand smiling towards me. "Let her go. She's a young teen. Let her experience some things" my father urged. My mother sighed "Go ahead. Be back here at 5".

I nodded rushing off the opposite way of my family. I pulled out a piece of paper staring at the flyer. "I can do this" I encouraged. I stood in front of the side door of Marie salon. I took a deep breath and opened it. A lady in a green long-sleeved dress turned around. "Hello, are you here for the interview". I nodded shyly and she smiled.

We sat down at the table. She asked me different questions and from her expression. Things weren't going well. Having no experience stalled me from getting a lot of jobs. This continued on the other interviews I went to. Standing on the porch hearing the door close behind me I sighed.

I had went to five interviews now. Looking at the large clock overlooking the entire city it was thirty minutes till 5. I ran towards the main road to come into contact with a guy. We both hit the ground with an oof. He stood up much faster than I and wore a cloak.

He held out his hand and I took it. "I'm sorry-" he paused. He stared at me which made me quirk a brow. I patted off the dust from my dress. "It's my fault. I was running to quickly" I muttered. "What put you in such a rush?If you don't mind me asking".

I glanced over him and my eyes went back to his face. He looked suspicious but his voice held warmth. Something about him made me feel like I could trust him. "I...I um. Was trying to head back to my parents. I had been looking for a job".

We began walking in a comfortable silence. Like this was normal. "Did you get lucky" he asked with a hand behind his back. My head went down sadly as I shook my head. He stayed quiet for minute. This was weird. I was never an overshare and now. I was just reading him my problems like it was just an everyday thing.

"Don't give up. I find that good things happen to good people" he attested. I smiled softly "and how do you know. That I'm a good person" I quizzed. He paused causing me to stop walking. The sky was now dark and the fairy lights and lamp street lights aluminated the street.

"I just have a feeling" he confessed. With his cloak hidden the only thing I could see was his ocean blue eyes. Our gazes locked on one another like magnetics. His eyes move to my hand. He held my hand in his. I sucker in a breath with the shiver running through my body as his lips met my skin.

"Your name"? "Serphaine. Seraphine Hawthorne" I stated. He smirked leaving my hand and I frowned at the loss of touch. "Serphaine" someone called. I looked in the direction to see my siblings running towards me. They giggled hugging me and when my parents walked up I greeted. "Who was that you were talking to"? my mother asked.

"This is -. I turned around at a loss of words. He was gone. I turned back around clearing my throat shaking my head. "It was a tourist asking my directions" I explained. My father nodded with sacks in his hands.

"Let us go. It's getting rather late" my mother concluded. I nodded moving along with my family. I was puzzled where the guy had gone and wished I had asked him his name as well.
The next morning I stepped outside grabbing the notice from the affairs office. We were behind on paying and I hoped by some miracle I would find a job today. My eyes flickered to another letter. This had the kingdom emblem on it.

I read it. Then re-read it again and again. "A job offer to Serphaine Hawthorne".
