"Here you go," Esme put a cup down in front of Elijah, and gave him a smile.

"Ah, excellent."

He picked up the steaming tea, gently pressing it to his lip. "Thank you, my dear."

He made sure to take a sampling sip, and threw a noticeable gesture of appreciation her way.

Kiss ass.

Esme's smile widened. "Of course, no trouble at all."

She then turned around to Talya, who had been standing by the window since Carlisle had ushered them in the room. Esme tried very hard to not let hesitation show when she addressed her.

"Are you sure I can't get you anything – uh, Natalya?"

At the clearing, she had introduced herself as Talya, so Esme was a bit hesitant but decided to go with what Elijah'd said.

Talya didn't bother to move her eyes from the scene outside but felt a shadow of amusement.

"I've got a feeling my preferred choice of venue would not be made available for me."

Carlisle let out a light laugh as he entered the room with a plate of cinnamon cookies, the picture of relaxation helping Esme from feeling tense.

Almost all of the Cold Ones had long since left. Some whooshed straight out of the clearing shortly after the Volturi for which Carlisle couldn't blame them.

He'd taken control of the situation immediately, which both Originals allowed, and invited Elijah and Talya to their home for refreshments. He'd handle his friend and Edward would take over with those who remained.

They were currently outside, in a secluded area but not out of the view. Talya had been observing them, staying mostly silent.

"Yes, I'm afraid these will have to do. Esme's recipe, still fresh."

He placed them on the table in front of Elijah, gently squeezing Esme's hand on the way, which she appriated.

"I am sure they are delicious," Elijah said.

Talya only paid half attention to the pleasantries Elijah and Esme kept exchanging and only reacted when Carlisle addressed her.

"I must say it is a great pleasure to finally meet you, Natalya. Officially that is," he smiled.

His voice was soothing.

"Is it?"

"Of course. Your family is well known with, I imagine, no shortage of matters to oversee. I must thank you both for finding the time for this unpleasantness."

Elijah answered when Talya didn't speak. "Of course, it was no trouble."

Carlisle sent a grateful nod.
