Dinner with mom

Chapter 19

It's been about three weeks since the party. Harry and I have spent almost everyday together except for today. My mom is coming home today, so we couldn't hang out. Michael and Cole, just left to go pick her up. Cole was super excited. I walk downstairs and sit down on the couch with, Jordan. I grab my phone and text Harry telling him that my mom was coming home today. Ashley comes downstairs and sits in a chair. "So Elaine is coming home today?" She asks me. "Yup, and I'm super excited!" I say smiling. "Have you talked to your parents?" I ask Ashley. "Uh yeah my mom is home, my dad is on a business trip again" Ashley's dad was never really there. He's always out on business trips. "Oh" I say simply, I get a text from Michael saying that they just picked mom up. "Their on their way home!" I say. It's been a month since I've seen my mom, and I miss her so much. I walk into our huge modern kitchen and grab an orange. I peel it and discard the peels. Ashley comes in looking shocked. "Ashley what's wrong?!" I ask her concerned. "Uh... Um... Jordan and I just kissed" she mutters. "WHAT!?!" "Don't freak out it's fine we just wanted to see if we still you know, like each other I don't think we do cuz we both kinda feel awkward." Then she looks sad. "What's wrong now?" I ask her. "What if Niall finds out? Will he get mad?" She asks. "I know this is totally wrong but don't tell him, if the guilt get to you I'm sorry to say but you still like Jordan" she sighs "that's the problem" and walks away. I walk Ito the living room and see Jordan. "How could you do that to her? She has a boyfriend and now she's gunna go around doubting herself!" I say to him. "I... I kinda just acted on spot" he whispers. "And here's what bothers me, she doesn't like me, but I think I like her..." "Jordan no, you can't! She loves Niall please just let it be!" I beg. I suddenly feel like a huge bitch. I just told my brother and my best friend to deny love. I shake it off and convince myself that it'll blow over. Ashley loves Niall. I snap out of my thoughts when I hear a car pull up. I rush into the foyer and see my mom walk though the door. "Mom!" I yell running over to her. "Hey sweetie" she says hugging me. Michael and Cole walk in with her bags. They take them towards her room. "So how've you been?" She asks "great! How was your trip?" I ask. "It was bo-ring!" She laughs. "That sucks" I say. Ashley comes out of her room and runs sdown the stairs. "Hey Elaine!" She says hugging her. "You know you may as well call me auntie" my mom says. "Okay, hey auntie!" She says still hugging her. I feel my phone buzzing in my pocket. "Excuse me" I say stepping into the huge living room. "Hello?" I answer. "Hey babe" Harry's voice rings through the phone. "I miss you, can I come see you?" He asks. "Well my mom just got home...." "Who's that!?" Ashley's voice interrupts me. "Is it harry?" She asks. "Oooo Harry invite him for dinner!" I hear my mum call. Harry chuckles "well you heard mum, I guess you're coming for dinner" I smile. "Okay, I'll be there in half an hour" he says. "Okay bye Harry" I say. "Bye love" I hang up and walk into the foyer again. "What'd he say?!" Mum asks. "He's going to be here in half an hour." I say. "What about Niall?" "I think he's out" I say. Ashley nods.

Half an hour later

I hear the door bell ring. I walk up and pull the huge oak door open. "Hey" Harry says hugging me. "Hey" I say squeezing him back. My mom walks out of the kitchen and stands next to me. "Hi! I'm Elaine!" She says cheerily. "Hi Elaine, I'm Harry" "I know" she laughs. My face immediately goes red. "Momm!" I whine. She laughs and goes back to the kitchen. "Dinner!" I hear her call while we're in the living room. I walk into our huge dining room with Harry behind me. We sit down Ashley to my right, Harry to my left, my mom on the end, Cole, Jordan, and Jarod on the other side, and Michael on the other end. We're having lasagna. "So you two are best friends?" My mom asks. I nod and smile "yeah we are" I say. Ashley bumps me "thanks" she says sarcastically. "Chill bro" I tease her. She rolls her eyes and laughs. After some rather boring small talk, everyone finishes dinner. I notice a few awkward glances between Ashley and Jordan. "That was really good Elaine but I've gotta go" Harry says politely. "Okay Harry thank you for coming!" My mom says. "I'll walk you out" I say walking Harry to the door. When we reach my front door, I quickly kiss his cheek. "Bye harry"I say. "Bye love" he says kissing my cheek back. He opens the door and exits my huge house. I sit down on the stairs, and my mom comes out and sits beside me. "You really like him huh?" She says. "Well yeah he's my best friend." I say. "No I mean you like him more than that" she says. My eyes widen. "How could you tell?" I ask. "I'm your mother! And he feels the same way" she says. "Look I don't care if you two date, or whatever, but just don't tell your father okay?" My eyes widen once again. "Oh my god! Thank you mom!" I say hugging her tightly.
