sapnap is... confused, for lack of a better word, when he comes to on the pavement outside his house.
the world still seems to be spinning around him as he blinks his eyes open and tries to see through the cloudy haze that trickles into the edges of his vision. he knew it was stupid of him not to eat before going to the gym but jesus, he didn't think he'd pass out.
he's only passed out a few times, so it's not like he should've seen it coming after skipping one too many meals again.
he sits up slowly, not wanting to go straight back down again, and brings a hand up to hold against the front of his head as it begins to throb. he reaches out to the space beside him, grabbing in the direction of where he suspected his gym bag to be.
when he doesn't immediately find it, he glances over, and his vision seems to magically clear in response to the shock of finding his bag gone. he turns back, then looks to the other side, then continues looking around as he slowly climbs up onto his feet and glances around.
his bag is gone, and so many emotions hit him at once. his first thought is immediate panic when he realises his phone has been stolen, then he's frankly disgusted that someone walked past an unconscious boy and did nothing but take his bag and keep walking. then he's upset.
embarrassingly, he wants to cry, and he knows this is going to lead to another relapse when he's back in the comforts of his bedroom, and he finds his breathing going shaky and uneven as he turns towards his house.
he freezes in time when the building comes into sight.
weirdly, the first thing he notices is the unfamiliar picket fence around his front garden, white wood sticking up where green hedges usually would be. that would be excusable, of course, but when his vision shifts to see the side extension on their house is gone, he nearly faints all over again.
half of the fucking house is gone!
sapnap probably looks crazed as he starts glancing back and forth around the street, suddenly noticing all the subtle differences in his surroundings and trying to work out what the fuck has happened.
it's definitely his street, he can tell, so what the fuck has happened?
"are you okay?"
sapnap's head whips around at the suffocating comfort of the familiar voice, his heart rate wallowing back down to something survivable as he turns around. though, his peace only seems to last for a fleeting moment.
his attention flicks from the half-familiar face, to the weirdly cool-looking turtleneck shirt, to the even cooler dress shoes, to the suit that seems far too formal, and then back to his face.
he blinks long and hard, wondering if he's riding out the aftershocks of passing out or if what he's seeing is real. "dad?" he questions quietly, worried. he wants to topple forward into the older man's arms and let himself be suffocated in a safe embrace, but he can't when the face staring back at him doesn't match the warm-comfort of his voice.
