It was another day of walking to this mountain, we could hear the distant notes that the peak played. It was interesting that this mountains peak could play such a definite tone. If altered, it could be used as a giant flute.
Dan kept bitching about the walk, she kept asking to just teleport us. Though I am a very powerful wizard, my magic has limits. I can't say the same for Goliath, she surpasses me in very spell imaginable... and with Decarano's power, anything is possible if she loses control.
We don't know what's waiting for on on this mountain, it was so far up north that is was a tad colder than before. The terrain was grassy, the "Great Erun Desert" actually had an end. Rocky with plenty of caved embedded into the surface of this new earth. The sun started to set, so we took shelter in the side of a hill. There was no sign of Vee, so we left the entrance unprotected.
As far as these nights went, nothing happened. William did not show up, Goliath was still gone. Dan and Hawkins fell asleep holding each other, leaving me and Ki alone. Ki wasn't herself, her blade had been sheathed for a week... and she was missing her son dearly.
I could understand.
The loss of a son... even a daughter.
It's something I don't want to happen ever again.

I looked to Ki, who had already noticed us being alone. She sighed, and sat next to me. The rocky ground started to hurt me, Ki was sulking next to me. She wore black pants with pieces of armor dangling. A white shirt that had holes near the bottom, and pieces of armor on her shoulders and forearms. Her weapon on her back and her long hair in a ponytail, she looked at me. Her eyes a mix of white and red, they were mesmerized to look at.
"You holding up?"
I looked at her face, rather than her eyes.
"The friend I've fought with and against is being tortured, and there isn't anything we can do right now."
She frowned.
"I know. I can only imagine what he's going through."
She averted her head, but I pulled her back to look at me.
"Hey. We'll get him back. I can promise you that."
She began to cry, slumping down to rest her head on my lap. I let her weep in peace, making sure if anyone woke up to not disturb her. I rubbed her hair, her tears making my jacket wet. After a while, she fell asleep like that. I smiled, letting her rest.
"I guess I'll take night watch."
I awoke to find everyone already awake. They were getting ready to set out, Brandon looking after Ki.. she wasn't really doing too well. We collected our things and put out what remained of the fire, and almost instantly set off.
More walking! It was my favorite activity, especially walking until my feet kill me. I can't complain, I've heard the stories of how far Goliath walked from.. what was the name of her nation? I don't think she's ever mentioned that to us... or anything at all, maybe if she didn't dip on us like that I would know by now.
"We almost there Hawkins?"
"Sort of... we'll be spending yet another night in some random cave before we get to the foot of the mountain."
