Once they were in her chambers, Aemma took the pins out of her hair.
Her mother had told her what was to be expected of her should she wed.
That it would be painful at first, but that it would hopefully be nice for her if he was gentle.
When the pins were out, she started to untie her dress carefully. However before she fully untied it, Cregan's hands stopped her and she stiffened.
She moved away from the contact before turning around to look at her husband questioningly and took a moment to study him.
Cregan Stark was indeed handsome. He had dark hair that was shaved off on the sides and dark eyes.
"We do not have to lay together." He told her
The last Targaryen shook her head, "It is expected of us." She said simply
The Northern man moved to sit on the bed and looked at his wife, "You can not bear to be touched. You have suffered greatly throughout the war and now, you are Queen. We do not have to lay together." He explained
She felt her throat tighten at the kindness her husband had shown her, "We need heirs."
Cregan nodded in agreement, "And we shall have them in time. The rebuilding of the realm needs our attention as do you."
Aemma continued to study her husband before turning back to change into her night clothes.
Word of her husband's honor and the honor of House Stark had reached all of Westeros. She remembered during her mother's council, the one right before Luke's death, Bartimos Celtigar had said "There has never lived a Stark who forgot an oath. And with House Stark, the North will follow."
What he had said was true. Cregan fought for her mother, even though she had been dead by the time he slaughtered most of the Green Supporters.
Her husband has avenged her family better than she had.
She cleared her throat, "Will you tell me about Jace's time in Winterfell?" She asked
"Of course, My Queen." Cregan nodded

Cregan woke up at first light. He turned and reached for his new wife but did not find her.
He opened his eyes and saw Aemma looking out the window.
"Good morrow, my queen." He said
Aemma's attention shifted from outside to him, "Good morrow, husband."
She moved so she was sitting on the bed and as he looked at her, he saw evidence of a sleepless night.
"Mayhaps we could rest a bit longer." He suggested as he reached out to wrap a stand of her hair around his finger
He decided last night that he would try to ease his wife back into getting comfortable with touch again.
While he didn't know the extent of what she suffered, he could guess.
It made him wish the false king was alive so he could kill him again.
She shook her head, "There is much to do. I need to send word to Dragonstone for them to check on The Cannibal, Silverwing and the clutches of Eggs. Aegarax, The Cannibal, Sheepstealer, Silverwing and the score of eggs are the only dragons left. Although, Sheepstealer has disappeared. I also need the dragon keepers advice about rebuilding a better dragon pit." She told her husband
The Wolf of Winterfell blinked, "There is a dragon named 'The Cannibal?'" He asked sleepily
The Last Dragon nodded, "He eats other dragons. Silverwing was the mount of Queen Alysanne. I believe the clutch is from her and her mate, Vermithor." She explained as she tried to suppress a yawn
Cregan furrowed his eyebrows, "You could not sleep?" He asked
"I did not try." Aemma corrected
The northerner looked at his wife worriedly. She needed to rest before she collapsed.
She hardly slept now. In all honesty, the last time she had a decent night's sleep was over a year ago, the night before King Viserys's last supper.
The evidence was clear on her face. No longer was she the wide eyed girl she once was. The only remaining child of Rhaenyra Targaryen looked tired. Her face had slimmed, she had dark circles under her purple eyes.
"We also need to speak with the smallfolk soon. Mayhaps we could follow in Queen Alysanne's footsteps. She was beloved by most in the seven kingdoms." Aemma added
Cregan's hand twitched, like he wanted to take hold of Aemma's hand, but he held back, "Aemma, you must rest eventually." He told her gently
She sighed, "Not when we have much to do."
