Painful Cuddling

Two Hours Later

"Do you want me to read you a book?" I ask him. Ever since I kissed him earlier he's been acting like how he did when he skipped everywhere. "Yes!" He beams at me.

I slip out of his embrace and kneel down to find a book from the shelf. There aren't many options to choose from. Like seriously, why are all of them boring history books? I scan the books again thinking that maybe I missed something more interesting than history.

Ah! There it is!

I pull out a book that doesn't have history in the title and I flip it over to read the back. I quickly read the description and approve it for reading.

I get back on the couch and am immediately attacked with cuddles. Bastion snuggles up to me and makes it impossible for me to read. "Love, you have to let me go. I can't read to you when you're pinning me down with cuddles."

He lets go of me and starts to sing, "You called me love! You called me love! You love me!" Step two of my plan is working.

"You act like this is a surprise. You know I love you." He giggles, (barf), at my answer.

"You love me!"

"Of course I do!"

"I knew it wouldn't take long for you to realize we're destined to be together." That sweet side of his personality is gone when he proclaims this and is replaced with the personality I don't like.

"Now please read to me." There's that side I prefer over the creepy one.

As I read to him I feel like I've been transported back in time to when I would read to the younger kids at school. I always enjoyed doing that, reading to him not so much.

The longer I read the sleepier he gets until finally he dozes off. This is perfect! I give him five more minutes to make sure he's really asleep before I carefully move out of his hold and scurry towards the kitchen.

I do my best to quietly rummage through the dishes until I find a fork. I then take that fork and run towards my room with intentions of hiding it under my mattress. Step three of the plan is done.

I slip it under the mattress and turn to leave when I see Bastion exiting the living room and walking my way. I pray to Sandy that he didn't see me hide the fork.

"What are you doing? I was sad to wake up and find you not there with me." He tells me as he rubs the sleepiness from his eyes.

"I was coming in here to get a blanket to cover you with. I didn't want you to get cold."

"That's so nice of you! Though I would rather cuddle you and have you warm me up than the blanket." He winks. I don't think that's a sentence to wink after but whatever.

"Let's cuddle in your bed." He walks closer. "No, let's cuddle in your bed. Your bed is bigger and we'd have more room to sprawl out." I don't want him to find my fork.

"I like the way you think." He turns tail and I follow close behind him. I don't want to cuddle but in the end, cuddling is going to be how I complete step two.

I don't get more than three steps into Bastion's room before he's pulled me onto the bed and rolled so he's pinning me down. I don't like this.

"You're so beautiful." He tilts my chin up so we make eye contact. With the position we're in and the words he's said, I'm a stupid blushing mess.

"You're so cute when you blush. I wish I could make you blush more often." He leans closer to my face and I feel my cheeks heat up even more. I shouldn't be blushing right now.
