So thats how this all started, the legendary wolf who seemed to have poison as fangs, and would kill anyone who seemed threatening? Sure. But our race was also misunderstood, we had feelings.. at least, I think so. My names Devon. I was abandoned by my mother and was raised by the wolf who slain the mare, the "legendary" wolf. As a pup, I wasnt aware of how much my foster dad was feared by the people, or other animals. He wasnt so scary to me, probably because he raised me with respect and loyalty. His eyes were dark red, and he had pitch black fur that never seemed to get lighter when he stood in the sun. He always told me to be brave and never let anyone try to change who I am. I never understood at first why he said those things to me, only cause he said it quite often. But now I understood, im just like him.
Our race is the most feared wolfpack in the nation. We are the immortals, blood thirsty and evil. I didn't like knowing that I was evil, cause I wouldnt hurt a fly, unless it bit me... Besides my problems, the race we are had other problems. One or more of our kind are killed everyday by either larger animals like bears, people, or our enemy pack, the moonwolves.
My foster dad never liked mentioning them, only because they killed who would have been my foster mother. He described her as a dark rose, she was not liked or most favorited by others, but she was also very beautiful. Her name was Prim, and she loved my foster dad, whose name is Damien. I wish we could have met, but its too late for that.
Damien also always told me to never look anything in the eye unless you feel the urge to hurt them. Apparently, our eyes go wacko and we go insane. Thats why we are called evil, or killers. But my eyes are gold, along with my gray and white fur pattern. I liked to look at my reflection in the water too for some reason. Probably because I knew I was different from the others, and didn't mind it either.
I sat down on the soft soil in front of my den, yawned a big yawn. Damien turned around and looks at me, smiling slightly, which was quite rare of him to show any emotion besides anger. "Morning son," he muttered, walking closer to me. He licked my face and also behind my ears, only because I had a tendency to roll around in the dirt inside the den when I sleep. I sneezed and shook my head laughing slightly looking up at him," okay okay, im good now!" He backed off and turned around starting to walk off. I sat up and followed behind him, trying to keep up. "So where are we headed today?" I asked, stumbling alittle bit, since I had an issue walking in a way next to him. He continued looking straight ahead, speaking in a sharp tone ,"into town, you need to eat, and so do I." I immediatly stopped and sat down glaring at him. He turned around and laughed at me saying," Come on, its not that dangerous." I continued my glare at him muttering,"Your only saying that to make me go with you..." Damien rolled his eyes and walked back towards me, sitting down in front of me. "Your exactly right, only because I want you to be brave, and not hold back if your threatened." Lowering my ears, I looked down at the ground sighing. He nudged my head to look at him, and I did. "I only do this because I love you, and i'll be right next to you the whole time," he said. I frowned raising my eye brows, and started walking towards town as he led on.
Arriving at the entrance, he immediatly stepped in front of me, stopping me quickly. I gazed up at him, giving him a serious look. "Now, before we enter, repeat to me what I told you about this place and what to do." I sighed and looked at him now irritated. He glared at me, making me finally give in to say the rules. "Never run if I dont have too, always stay by your side, people are dangerous, trust no one, always be quick in every situation, dont slack off, always be alert..." I stopped after the last part, only because I hated saying the very last rule. "And what?" He growled slightly at me, making me more alert. "Dont talk to other animals, even if they seem friendly.." He nodded and smiled, proud of himself. "The last rule is very important, there are bad people and animals out there that would love to strangle you and break you like a stick." I whined complaining," but dad, I dont have any friends.." He started to turn around, walking through the entrance. "Its a good thing, you can't trust anyone anymore." I lowered my head and slowly followed after him, dragging my feet.
We snuck behind one of the buildings, keeping hidden from the humans and dogs. I looked around the perimeter, making sure not to bump into anything or step on anything loud to cause attention. Damien suddenly stopped to a halt, and growled under his breath. I looked up at him confused, then looked in his direction, noticing a gaurd dog asleep next to a big scrap of meat. Glancing up at him, Damien started walking really slow towards him and circled around the dogs sleepy body. He lowered down to snatch onto the meat and slowly picked it up quietly away from the dog. I wagged my tail to honor his stealth and also to show how I was glad nothing happened. He then started walking towards me, with the scrap of meat dangling out of his mouth, and signaled me to start walking back. I got the message and turned around, slowly dragging my paws on the ground. Suddenly, there was a sudden movement behind us. Quickly I turned around, finding my self looking in the eyes of the gaurd dog, wrapped up in chains. I lowered my ears glaring back at him, snarling. Damien then jumped and grabbed me by the tuft of my neck and started to run. I started to struggle, trying to make him let go. "Dad, let me go! I can take him!" I yelped, kicking my paws in different directions. He bit tighter, hurting me purposly. "Hell no! His size compared to you is like a hamster compared to a buffalo!" He growled, still running. Still I continued to kick, when suddenly, I broke free from his bite falling into a pile of garbage. A bunch of dust and flies flew up around me, startling me and making me sneeze. Damien towered over me with the meat still in his mouth growling with rage over me. "Are you insane child! Get up and lets go!" He snapped pulling me out if the garbage. Stumbling to my feet, I gave up on my bravery towards the dog and started to run after him. "What happened to teaching me how to be brave if we are just running away from one of my chances to prove to you I am!" I snapped. Damien suddenly stopped, growling slightly under his breath, and glared over at me. "Because he isnt worth your time, your not ready for his level, we have to start small," he snapped back. I sighed and started to run again after him. He made sense, sure, but I believed I could do it. We ran threw the entrance back towards the den, but before we could make it, we ran into another wolf heading to town. Damien stopped in front of him, tightening his jaw onto the meat incase the wolf was thinking of possibly taking it. I sat next to him, glaring at the stranger. "Oh it seems you got me what I was looking for, can I have your gift to me?" He asked smirking, his blue and green eyes sparkling. Damien snarled glaring back at him, raising his tail straight up to show he was threatened. "In your dreams coward, go get your own," he snapped as he walked past, along with me following. The distance grew longer between us and the stranger, when suddenly he barked out a message that seemed important as well as a distraction. "Id trade you a piece of important information for that slice," he yelled. I skidded to a stop and turned back to look at him, along with Damien. He started slowly walking back towards the wolf with his back arched as if he were to attack. "Like what? We don't have time for your crap," Damien growled. The wolf laughed and grinned at Damien, as if to make him more irritated. "Youll never know unless you give that to me," he ordered. Confused, I glanced at my dad with a worried look on my face. He only stood straight faced, with also a confused look. "Your full of it, get out of my sight and go get meat yourself," Damien ordered back as he turned around to walk back a second time. "Your loss, I guess you dont want to keep your kid safe," he taunted as he started walking off. Damien stopped again and signaled me to hold the meat for him. It was much heavier then it looked, so I had to pull it across the ground as Damien started to head over to the strange wolves direction again. "Are you threatening my son..." Damien snarled as he jumped in front of the stranger. The wolf backed up with his ears lowered saying,"more like a way for you to listen to me, just forget the trade alright, but listen to me for just a minute." Damien sat down in front of him with his ears perked towards the strangers direction to listen. "Well thats better because my son needs to eat, but what is it thats so important? Usually everything or everyone I come across is scared to even look at me. Why are you so fearless?" Damien questioned. The wolf stiffened up his posture and also sat down looking at my father seriously. "Because fear is only a waste of time, it doesnt get you anywhere but more away from your problems," he muttered. I glanced up at my father finding him to have a suprised look on his face, nodding in approval. "Damn, I like the way you think, so whats the information?" My father asked. The wolf lowered one of his ears slightly lowering his head as well, muttering,"My mate was killed by moonwolves two days ago along with my two daughters, not far from here at all.. I only share this info to possibly move locations from were you are staying." My eyes widened in disbelief. The same thing happened to him just like what happened to Prim, except im still alive. My father lowered his head along with his eyes, as if he were about to cry. I layed down and started to munch on the scrap of meat trying to clear my mind. Damien brought his head back up but continued looking down. "Thank you for the information, we will move as soon as we can.." He muttered as he started to move back towards me. "Come on, lets move.." He ordered. I followed him, looking back at the wolf worried. I wish him well with his painful event.
