this is going based more off of arcane Jayce
◇ Jayce and Y/n. Y/n and Jayce. That's how it had always been. Inseparable lovers and best friends. They did everything together, until hextech, at least. Jayce rose to fame and y/n was forgotten. But Y/n would not allow themself to slip from history ◇

I hummed quietly to myself, head resting on Jayce's shoulder as he finished his notes, one arm wrapped tightly around my waist.

This was a common sight should one walk into Jayce's lab. I would be done with work early, come in here and if he was just working on papers he'd pull me into his lap and we'd stay like that until he was done.

Of course, this usually didn't take long but the last couple of times were different.  He seemed stressed.

"Jayce, is everything okay with your project?" I asked, sitting up to look him in the fact. His scrunched brow relaxed as he looked at me, giving me a tired smile.

"Everything's alright, love. Just stuck on something. I think nows a good time to call it quits, dont you think?" He murmured, setting his pencil down and sitting up, taking me with him as we headed for his room.

Of course, I wish I'd known then he was working on Hextech. Maybe j could've been a part of it.

Instead, he got Viktor, his new best friend. I saw less and less of Jayce and when I did, he brushed me off.

I never left him. I loved him, after all. I was nothing without him.

He clearly did not think so.

Piltover soon forgot about me. I left the academy, even though Heimerdinger begged me not to. I returned to the Undercity. To Zaun.

I found myself standing in Silco's office, staring at the man himself.

"So, what brings an academy student to Zaun?" He hummed, hands folded neatly in front of him. I stared him down a moment before answering.

"I left the academy of my own accord. My skills weren't appreciated there, so I fivuted I'd bring them somewhere they would be," I explained, tossing him my old notes.

Sketches and ideas of machines and trinkets.

Of war machines and weapons.

He flicked through them, a slight grin twitching across his lips.

"And how do you expect to build these, exactly?" He pressed.

"With anything I can get my hands on. I will show Piltover its mistake. I will not be forgotten."

◇ Years later, Jayce ◇

Hextech finally took off. A lot happened since its first discovery, but it was worth it.

I lost Viktor and Y/n, but they were only variables.

Well, not Y/n. I never forgot them. My heart ached for them every day after they left the academy.  I had no idea if they were even alive still. There hasn't been a single word of them since they left.

At least, until now.

Zaun was making advances. Massacres in the lower sections of Piltover. The people stood no chance against the weapons and machines they used.

Guns that shot bullets that were laced with toxins, robots that had a singular weak spot.

It was war. And it was lead by Y/n.

Nobody remembered them until now. Everyone at the academy suddenly remembered them again, how they were from Zaun and how terrifyingly brilliant they were.

How dangerous they were.

I refused to believe it could be Y/n leading these battles. I would see for myself.

I watched the soldiers and robots racing towards the small village, lead by one person.

They were covered head to toe in gleaming armour, etched with what looked like runes. But the face was unforgettable.

Y/n had changed. Their once soft, kind face was now cold and etched with hard wrinkles. Scars sprinkled their face and one eye looked almost milky.

But it was still focused solely on me. They raced towards me, not even speaking to me as they launched an attack.

I went in the defensive, trying to get them to stand down.

"Y/n, this isn't you! What happened?" I yelled, hoping to get an explanation.

"Hextech happened, Jayce. You get famous, you pushed me away. Everyone forgot about me," they spat, continuing to attack.

"I never forgot about you!"

"Maybe, but you still thought Hextech was more important than me. You made me feel unwanted. But Zaun saw my potential. If the Academy wanted a villain, they'll get their villain!" They screamed, a laugh escaping their lips as they disarmed me, holding a gun point blank to my head.

"You left be behind, Jayce. And you never came back for me. All of this? This could have been avoided. I will not allowed myself to be forgotten. Hextech will fall. Piltover will die. Zaun will rise."

The last thing I heard the click of the trigger.
