In my dream it was dark except for the white light surrounding the mysterious boy. He was standing underneath a looking ancient oak tree. He raised his hand and with the flick of his wrist the whole place was transformed with colorful lights. The trees shone with so many colors that I was blinded by its beauty. I looked around, awestruck. I reached out to him. As our fingers touched I felt what could only be described as an electric current passing through us. I laughed out loud; this was the way it was supposed to be. My gaze locked onto the most beautiful pair of eyes I had ever seen and everything else dimmed.
I was torn from my dream by the jarring sound of my alarm clock. Turning it off, I indulged in an extra minutes in bed. Finally I dragged myself out of bed along with Sammy. I heard laughter and turned around to see Sammy doubled over.
"What?" I snap. I am not a morning person.
"Nothing," she said amusement evident in her tone.
I walked over to my mirror and stare at myself. My hair was sticking out in every which way and embarrassingly I had drool on the side of my mouth.
"Yuck," I wipe away some of the drool off my chin.
Walking over to my closet I started to rummage through my clothes.
"What am I going to wear?" Sammy asked sitting on edge of my bed.
I looked her over. She'll be able to fit into my clothes they might be a bit big on her, but they'll have to do for now. She agreed on wearing my clothes. She quickly took a shower and changed into jeans and a blue tee-shirt. I managed to do a quick job of washing my face and brushing my hair.
I wore a white tee-shirt with a black cardigan and jeans. I run the brush through my hair then quickly place it on the dresser. Grabbing my backpack we head downstairs. It wasn't until we reached the base of the stairs that Sammy looked at me. "My backpack's at home," she said fiddling with the hem of the tee- shirt.
"No worries we'll drive by after were done with breakfast, okay?"
She nods her head. Entering the kitchen we see my mom holding empty plates for us. We went outside to the patio were my dad was already eating his breakfast. As soon as Sammy sat down, I reached for the scrambled egg bowl and scooped a large spoonful onto her plate. My mom had the bacon platter and dropped few of the slices on her plate.
"Orange juice?" my dad offered.
She smiled and nodded. He poured some into her cup until she told him how much she wanted. For a time, the table was quiet as everyone was eating. The view from here is just as magnificent as it is from upstairs.
The house is a perfect distance from a lake separated by a couple of dozen trees, with an equally perfect flagstone path cutting between the house and a private dock. The lake is still my favorite place even after what happened last summer. I look up and see Sammy looking at me with a concerned look. I try to hide the pain it causes me to remember the events that occurred there.
