Lucy's pov
Here we are heading to their house. Me dressed for the occasion. They changed the plans to a party here.Grace opens the door for us and grins "you've finally arrived!" Hugging me tightly. I tell her "missed ya G" as we step in and she says to my fiancé "you must be Tristan" he nods "and you must be Grace" they start a conversation about I don't care what and I see all the peaked caps. I head to a bar and order whiskey. I sip it and note the man next to me staring. Bright blue eyes. Dark hair. Strong bone structure.
Must be Tommy. He speaks first "and you are?" I reply "Lucille. But call me Lucy" he nods and gives a half smile "guest of honor aye" "something like that" I reply. He asks "not a fan of huge parties?" I shake my head "just not a fan of something I didn't want" sipping my drink. Eying him. How can I not? He's gorgeous. He asks "where's your other half?" I chuckle "wouldn't call him that. But he's with yours somewhere. Started talking about being a copper and a uniform and I had to get away." He chuckles "don't like coppers aye?" I reply "who does? They're all self righteous pricks" "but you're with a man that was one" he points out. "You're with a woman that was one. One that betrayed you at that Tommy. Or should I call you Thomas?"
Tommys pov
Lucy...she's gorgeous. Absolutely stunning. To be honest I've fallen out of love with Grace some time ago. I keep her around for Charlie's sake and mine. Aunt pol would jump for joy and push any woman my way to remarry right away. It's just...easier.I reply "Tommy is fine love. I know why I took Grace back. Why'd you get engaged to a man that used to be part of the group of people you hate" I wonder exactly why she hates coppers. They are self righteous pricks. But I can tell there's more. She finishes her drink and I wave for another round. Green is her color definitely. Makes her eyes pop a bit. She looks divine. And I can tell she's attracted to me too. We haven't been able to keep our eyes off of one another.
She replies "he's not a copper anymore. He's one of ya" "this life ain't for everyone" I point out. She nods "I can handle chaos. It's all I've ever known" interesting. "Do you have a job lined up yet?" She shakes her head "not quite yet. Tristan just wants me to stay home and look pretty. But that's not my thing" I chuckle "definitely doesn't seem it. Here. My son Charlie is being a hassle to every nanny we find for him. He just ran one off yesterday. The job is yours if you're good with kids. If not then my company can always use extra hands" she replies "sounds like Charlie is acting out because he misses you or Grace. Maybe both"
I nod "I'm there when I can be. Workin on that. Think you can get through to him" she shrugs "maybe" I nod "come meet my family. You're one of us now love" standing. I take her hand in mine and I lead her to the table where they are. I eye grace and Tristan across the room getting on well. Weird they've only talked like twice before now. I pull out her chair noting all of their stares I sit beside her. "This is Lucy. Graces best friend. Guest of honor" I say "Lucy this is my aunt Polly, her son Michael, my brothers Arthur, John, my sister Ada. John's wife Esme." She nods and I explain "she's gonna try to get through to Charlie." They chuckle "good luck with that one" I watch as she fits right in.
I smile seeing her and John and Arthur laughing at jokes and she challenges them to drinks. I ask her quietly "dance with me" she looks my way and grins and takes my hand in hers making my heart race. I lead the dance enjoying her "they seem to like you" she grins "really?" I nod spinning her pulling her back to me her chest against mine now as she inhales sharply. "You'd know if they didn't like you. Trust me" "do they not like grace" she asks.
"You can say that" I reply. I don't even like Grace anymore honestly. I say "you look gorgeous today Lucy" she replies "thank you Tommy" "what are your dreams?" I ask her. She replies "dreams?" "Every woman has dreams Lucy" I reply and she chuckles "to be free" I ask "who's holding you hostage love?" She replies "guess the question is who isn't" I thread my fingers in her hair pulling her closer my lips by her ear as I mutter "I can save you if you'd like. Free you. Just tell me who and they'll be gone before you know it love." Her hair is soft like the finest of silks. She replies "I don't need a man on a white horse to save me Tommy." I chuckle releasing her continuing our dance "good thing I'm not a knight in shining armor. But a gangster in a peaked cap. Offer still stands love"
Graces pov
I pull Tristan in further between my thighs as he fucks me into the wall of the bathroom moaning "fuck" he grunts and makes me finish and I do the same. He releases me and I kiss him "they can't know about this" he nods "I know." We just...happened. I love tommy. But he hardly even touches me anymore. And Lucy is indifferent with him. I don't know why. She won't say. But Tristan is a good man. She refuses to touch him most days.I nod and say "we should head back" he nods and we walk back out to the party and I stop seeing Tommy dancing with Lucy. Tommy hasn't danced with me. Not for a while. He refuses and leaves for business. But he dances with her? I watch as he pulls her closer by her hair and he says something to her. What the fuck?
