Junior year in a new town was always one of Maria's biggest fears, ever since her mother passed she had to move in with her uncle that she barely knew, it made sense since her father was always in and out of prison for a good part of her life she wouldn't want to stick around to find out what he does the next time he is released.

Its the first day of school, Maria didn't sleep for the past few nights feeling anxious and stressed about how she'll get treated mind the fact that her uncle had her in one of the best schools in town but that didn't stop her from overthinking throughout the week.

"Maria, honey, you up yet?" A distanced voice approached from under her doorstep, Xavier, middle aged man, with a coffee brown hair and slight faded beard

*knock..knock* He makes sure to let her know that he is coming in "good morning sweetheart, i made you a cup of coffee to freshen up" he says, handing her the cup with a soft smile on his face, Xavier was 5 years older than Maria, her father was against the idea of her staying with him yet he had no choice but to say yes.

Maria had a worried look on her face throughout the ride to school thinking of how hectic it will be. "Don't stress out much I'll be here when you finish, even if you didn't want to wait till the end of the day just give me a call I'll be here before you know it", Xavier said interrupting her thoughts, she gave him a nod as she smiled, Xavier was the only person she got to meet from her family, her father didn't have the time to introduce her to his siblings leaving her to go through with her mother's family which is her grandparents, Xavier and her aunt Lea, but they weren't really a part of her life either it was only Xavier that frequently visited her and her mom in their hometown and would always take Maria with him everywhere since the age gap isn't that big he tend to understand her and how she acts.

As she approaches the school's property she start scanning through everyone around her, to her surprise people were giving out smiles and greeting each other, some even introduced themselves to her, to keep in mind Maria is a tanned blonde girl, with green eyes, and a very long hair, everything about her just suits her very perfectly. She went on with her day, for the first time in a while she felt like she might belong to a place other than her uncle's house.

"Hey darling, how is your day going? Should I pass by to get you?" ~Xavier

"Hello, honestly it's not as bad as I thought it would be I'm actually enjoying my time!!" ~Maria

"Aha..glad to hear that just stay safe I'll be by the gate when school is over." ~Xavier

"O.K. Sir!" ~Maria

She felt good having Xavier by her side made her feel so much better especially that he could sometimes actually listen to her when she needed to talk about something bothering her, it was mostly about her father, but he never really felt annoyed or bothered by her talking about it he wanted her to be happy, maybe offer her the life he never got..

As the school bell goes off, Maria was first to leave the building waving goodbye to people around her, Xavier was in shock of how she amazingly made so much friends on her first day

"XAVIERRRR!!!" Maria shouts as she runs and tugs him into a hug "TODAY IS ONE OF THE BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE I FEEL SO STUPID FOR FEELING SO STRESSED ITS SUCH A GOOD PLACE TO BE IN" she screamed in excitement as she was getting into the car, he smiles at her and keeps listening to her talk about her day.

Its the first time he witnessed her in such a great mood ever since she moved in with him, he felt happy for her, watching her pull out pictures of people she met and telling their funny stories.

"I just know mom will be proud of me for being able to cope with this.." She smiled softly saying it, he turns to her while she wiped her tear away "she'll always be proud of you regardless of what you do, she loved you more than you'd ever imagine. Your mom would've given you the world if it was her choice.." Xavier tried to hide the sadness in his voice to give her comfort "how about a bowling day?" He said breaking the sadness in the atmosphere knowing its her favorite thing to do all day everyday, she giggles and nods to him.
