-FLASHBACK-

  as soon as beomgyu opened his locker, a note flew at him.

  he jumped back in surprise, not expecting to be attacked by a flying note. he hesitantly picked it up, not sure what it was.

  he unfolded it, and he was surprised to see it covered in hearts. he took a few seconds to read it, but smiled when he finished. someone wanted to meet him at the rooftop during lunch.

  the whole school day, he was all giddy and excited, thinking about the letter and it's adoring words.

  thankfully for beomgyu, lunch was in a bit. he'll have to miss a bit of time to eat, but it was okay, maybe it was his crush, soobin!

  finally, it was time for lunch. he was really excited, so excited that he quickly came up there, practically running. he stood there and looked around, but there was nobody. was the letter just a joke?

  his shoulders slumped in disappointment. he was just about to turn around to leave, but he saw someone else standing behind him.

  "o-oh beomgyu.. you came" the boy blushed uncontrollably. beomgyu recognized him as one of soobin's best friends, but he didn't know his name. beomgyu's eyes lit up in hope.

  "oh? hi soobin's friend!! what's up?" beomgyu smiled at him.

  "i.. was the one who wrote that note in your locker. b-but you understood the meaning, right? that i was confessing? like.. i like you.." he rambled quite a bit before looking at beomgyu with a tint of hope in his eyes.

  "o..oh! w-why? i mean- why do you like me?" beomgyu's happiness slowly turned into shock.

  "you're cute.. and you're smart, you're nice too.. there's a lot to like.." soobin's friend nervously fiddled with his fingers.

  the first thing he heard was 'cute'. did he mainly like him because of looks? that's a quick red flag. beomgyu was happy someone liked him, but he just didn't like him back.

  "e-errm.. i'm flattered, j-jian-jianjun.? but, i don't really.. like you.. back" beomgyu must've shown he was disappointed, because he saw tears well up in the other's eyes.

  "if you don't support same sex relationships, then just forget it.." the slightly taller other looked at beomgyu, tears threatening to fall out. he was clearly upset and mistook beomgyu's rejection.

  beomgyu thought he showed disappointment. not disgust. was it something he said?

  "wai-wait jianjun! let's not jump to conclusions! i-i do support gays..? because-" before beomgyu could even finish his sentence, the other ran off.

  "-i am gay.." beomgyu whispered quietly to himself. he realized a bit late that he shouldn't have said the sentence like a question.

  maybe he wouldn't beat the homophobic accusations soobin's friend would throw at him.

  throughout the school year, beomgyu would try to approach the boy to try and explain his story, but the other just refused to hear him out.

  soon after, he gave up. he lost hope in trying to justify himself, so he gradually forgot about the situation.
