redemption

as i wake up i hear my phone pinging like crazy, i turn over to the other side of the bed and pick up my phone, i open my messages and was jadon texting me, jesus christ

"its too early for this man" i kiss my teeth

as i almost turn off my phone he calls me, debating if i should pick up or just let it ring.

i pick up,

"hello?" i say in my morning voice,

"wys, i seen u havent answered my text" he says

"oh i wonder why" i say sarcastically

"i understand why your upset, im sorry just please i wanna make this up to you" he says
i stare into the distance things if i should just hang up the phone or actually hash this out, i snap out and agree to listen to what he has to say. before i even get to say a word he asked

"do u mind if we meet up in person instead, because doing this over the phone isnt right" he says

i agree to that and we both plan to meet up for lunch, i hang up and lay back in my bed.

i get up and stretch, and go to the bathroom and get ready. after that i get ready i head out the apartment.

"oi, imani!" alexis says as shes laying on the couch

"what happened where you going?"

"jadon happened" i said while walking to the door,

i reach downstairs and see jadon a g wagon, he rolls down the window and smiles.

"whats up" he says

"im good, how are you" i said annoyed

"come in" he saids while opening the door,

i get in and he rolls up the window and he drives to the restaurant, we reach and walk to our table.

he pulls out my chair and we sit down and order,

"jadon im really not in the mood" i say to him

"your taking this as a joke and im being dead serious, if u dont want anything serious tell me right now" i say

"imani i didnt mean it, i fucked up i know" he says

"im tryna make it up to you im not trying to play games, i miss you fr" he adds on

"so your ex cant fulfill your loneliness?" i ask him,

"mani, please"

"dont call me that" i say

i look at him and i see him looking me up and down

"oh alright" i say as im going to get up and walk away

"wait" he says and grabs my hand

"let me go jadon, your hurting me"

he immediately lets go and i accidentally knock over a drink, and everybody in the restaurant looks at us

"shit" i say

the waiter comes and cleans it while me and jadon make eye contact,

i kiss my teeth and sighs

"so what are you going to do to make it up to me then?" i ask him

"what do u think i did wrong" he asked

"thats the first thing i want to know"

"well, you did sit on your ex which i guess isnt such a big deal" i say sarcastically

"and you also said in a interview you werent seeing anybody so that doesn't mean anything either"

he sighs and it goes silent

"i love you, and i know i fucked up but i didnt mean to and now i regret it"

"jadon dont make me laugh" i say

"and you kissed my reiss for get back" he adds on while running his hand though his hair

"so how did you know that i kis-"

he cut me off

"so you see how i feel" jadon says

"how you fee-" i say and look around

"mani" he says

"imani" i correct him

as i say that the food comes and i start eatting.
...

we leave the restaurant and drives back to the airbnb, before i can even unbuckle my seatbelt and get out. he stops me

"please, forgive me whatever you want ill do"

"whatever i want yeah?"

"yeah" he says

"drop all yours hoes" i say

"i did" he adds on

"not what i saw a couple of nights ago" i say

it goes silent

"mhm, so is that it?" i asked

"uh yea- i mean no"

"what now"

"unblock me, please" he says

i roll my eyes and get out his car, he pulls off as soon as i go inside the building

...

"so hes in his redemption arc?" lauren asked me

i give her a soft smile,

"i guess, but he going to have to prove to me that hes sorry"

"as he should" she adds om

"well it does take a lot to get my trust back"

"i know, he

"but lets see what he's willing to do for it"
