Ariah thinks of death very often. It's weird. Death is inevitable and humans are just mere mortals, so it's impossible for us to live forever. But when fate has some other plans, it takes away some of them sooner.
Anyways, she was sitting calmly on the couch when suddenly, a short guy with jackass hair snapped his fingers in front of her face. That's Park Jimin, her boyfriend. She Rules him off as being 'lucky' as although he can be pretty annoying at times, she loves him and in no way, can she hate the little attempts he makes to lighten up her mood whenever required.
"Good morning, ma'am!"
He smiles brightly and plops himself on the couch beside me. He has a bar of chocolate in his hand. She sighs, knowing it's going to be a long day. It's Saturday, a holiday for Jimin. So she's going to have to deal with him the entire day.
Jimin owns a dance institution, so he remains pretty busy throughout the week and therefore, likes to spend the weekends with her. Ariah had seen him dance once and boy, is he an angel.
But she has nothing called a weekend. Ariah is a Science major and minor in Literature. There's so much work for her to get done. But with Jimin by her side today, she thinks about how she will certainly not complete them before the deadlines.
He lays his head on her shoulder, eyes scanning through the tab she has opened on her laptop. He has a pack of chips in his hands and he munches on them unnecessarily loud.
"What are you doing?"
He asks, even though he knew what she was doing. When she doesn't answer him, he puts the packet of chips on his lap and dusting his hands off, he puts his right hand on her thigh.
"What about the coffee date you promised to go with me today?"
Her eyes widened when he said that. She had forgotten about the date, being caught up with so much work. A curse or two might have left her mouth. She had promised him this weekend and forgetting it isn't an excuse.
"Oh my-I'm so sorry, I forgo-"
Before the words could leave her mouth, she found herself pinned to the couch, having both of her hands trapped by her boyfriend's to the side of her head.
Her heart suddenly started to thump a lot harder. Jimin brought his face closer to hers. So close that she could feel his breath on her face. Her cheeks heated up at the sudden gesture.
Jimin brought his face to her ear before whispering;
"Can I have 100 won?"
Ariah could swear she would have liked it better if she had a knife nearby. She suddenly acquired enough strength to push Jimin aside, making him fall off the couch.
He lay on the floor, laughing to his heart's content as he watched his girlfriend stand up from the couch, grumbling.
"You may be busy but I'd still like a cup of coffee."
He says and stands up, dusting his pants as he does so. He picks up the empty packet of chips and disposes it in the trashcan.
"You're so lucky that I deal with you."
She says, emerging from the kitchen with a tray of biscuits and a cup of water with a teabag in it. She puts the tray on the couch, seating herself again and opens her laptop, resuming her work. Jimin extends his hand for a biscuit, just for it to be slapped away.
"No. You're not getting one."
She shakes her head as she pulls up her legs on the couch, sitting cross-legged. Jimin laughs it off, sitting beside his girlfriend. He wraps his hands around her and hugs her tight, still laughing at the small pout that had unintentionally appeared on her lips.
"Very well then, but give me my 100 won. You owe me that, especially after forgetting our date."
Ariah sighs and turns to her boyfriend.
"I'll do everything you want to, but not now. Can you please, respectfully, get out of my damn room now?"
She says, turning her attention back to her laptop. There's a bit of silence before she feels the hands unwrap themselves from around her and the couch pops back up beside her. She sees from her peripheral vision, a small figure disappear and shakes her head.
She could finally do her work peacefully, she thinks and glances at the clock. It was only half past noon. There was still a lot of time. But it was also closer to lunch time and she hadn't cooked anything yet.
She sighs, deciding that ramen would be lunch today. She also feels sorry for Jimin. First, she forgot their date and second, he will also have to eat ramen because she hasn't cooked anything. She mentally makes a note to make it up to her boyfriend by taking a day off and going for a small outing with him.
Another three hours pass by. Ariah can hear her stomach screaming for food now. She closes her eyes, pinching the bridge of her nose. She still has a lot of work to do but almost no time on her hands.
She shuts down her laptop and stands up from the couch, stretching her hands. She decides that it's finally lunchtime and makes her way to the kitchen.
What she doesn't expect is for her boyfriend, sitting on the chair facing her, with elbows resting on the table and hands supporting his head, staring right at her.
In front of him is a delicious meal plated beautifully on silver cutleries. It is steak, her favourite. Jimin smiles when he sees his girlfriend's reaction.
"Seems like you like it. Aha, I know I'm a good cook!"
He exclaims, patting his shoulder. Ariah smiles and pulls a chair, sitting on it.
"I thought you were angry and went out."
She says, eyeing her boyfriend who was fondly serving her the food.
"I was angry, but I realized it wasn't your fault. I would have also been stressed out, had I needed to work on weekends."
He says and serves himself the meal. Ariah smiles wider. Moments like these make her love this short guy with jackass hair more. He is so sweet and giving. He just deserves so much love.
"Thank you for this. I promise I'll make it up to you."
Ariah says and digs in for the appetizing meal. Jimin shakes his head, denying the offer.
"I was just joking. You don't need to push away your studies for me. Your love and presence are enough."
Ariah blushes at the remark. Sometimes, she believes that she is the luckiest girl to have a boyfriend like him in her life. She cannot afford to lose a man like him. At that moment as she watches her lover devour the food, she makes a vow to treasure this man all her life.
