Scene: Local jewellery store, morning.

The sun rises on Day 2 of Mandeep's visit, casting a warm glow on the village. Ashu's heart races as he contemplates the day ahead—the day he'll get his ears pierced and wear earrings for the first time.

Mandeep: (enthusiastic) Ashika, are you ready for your ear-piercing adventure?

Ashu offers a nervous smile, his mind racing with thoughts of how to avoid the inevitable.

Ashu: (hesitant) Actually, Mandeep ji, I was thinking... maybe I should wait a little longer. I'm not sure if I'm ready for this.

Mandeep: (playfully) Nonsense, Ashika. You're brave and resourceful, remember? This will be a breeze.

As they enter the jewellery store, Ashu's mother Gurpreet follows along, a concerned expression on her face.

Gurpreet: (whispering) Are you sure about this, Ashika?

Ashu: (whispering back) I don't want to do this, Mom. Can't you talk to him?

Gurpreet: (softly) We've come this far, beta. Let's not complicate things now.

As they approach the counter, Ashu's heart pounds in his chest. The jewellery store owner smiles warmly.

Store Owner: (kindly) Welcome! What can I help you with today?

Mandeep: (pointing to Ashu) My friend here is getting her ears pierced. Can you assist us?

The store owner nods and leads Ashu to a chair. Ashu's pulse quickens as he sits down, trying to summon his courage.

Ashu: (pleading) Mandeep ji, I really don't think I can do this.

Mandeep: (encouraging) You've come this far, Ashika. I believe in you.

The store owner prepares the equipment, and Ashu's grip on the chair tightens. He looks toward his mother, hoping for some sign that this can still be avoided.

Gurpreet: (whispering) It'll be alright, beta. You can do this.

With a deep breath, Ashu closes his eyes and lets the store owner proceed. The pain is swift but intense, and he winces as the earrings are inserted.

Store Owner: (smiling) There you go! All done.

Ashu touches his newly pierced ears, a mix of relief and discomfort washing over him.

Mandeep: (smiling) See, that wasn't so bad, was it?

Ashu: (grimacing) I suppose not.

As they leave the store, Mandeep hands Ashu a small gift box.

Mandeep: (grinning) Ashika, I have one more gift for you. A pair of silver anklets. Young girls should always wear them, you know.

Ashu accepts the gift with a mixture of surprise and gratitude. He looks at the anklets, realizing that this experience, as uncomfortable and challenging as it has been, has also given him a glimpse into the hearts of those around him

Scene: Ashu's home, afternoon.

The day wears on, and Ashu returns home with Mandeep, his newly pierced ears adorned with the diamond earrings. He walks in, trying to muster a sense of normalcy despite the weight of the earrings tugging at his ears.

Harjit: (looking up) Back already? How was your day?

Mandeep: (chuckling) Harjit, your daughter is an excellent guide.

Ashu smiles nervously, uncertain of how his father will react to the new addition to his appearance. Harjit's eyes fall on the earrings, and his gaze lingers.

Harjit: (raising an eyebrow) Ashika, when did you get your ears pierced?

Ashu's heart skips a beat, and he searches for the right words.

Ashu: (nervously) It was something I decided to do recently, Baba.

Harjit: (curious) And you didn't think to mention it to me?

Ashu: (hesitating) I didn't want to bother you with such small things, Baba.

Harjit studies Ashu for a moment, his expression a mix of surprise and something else—perhaps realization.

Harjit: (softly) You know, Ashika, there's no need to keep things like this from me. I'm your father, and I want to be a part of your life, no matter how small the matter may seem.

Ashu looks into his father's eyes, his heart swelling with a mixture of guilt and gratitude.

Ashu: (softly) I'm sorry, Baba. I just... I didn't want to cause any trouble.

Harjit: (smiling) You're not a trouble, Ashika. You're my daughter, and I want you to feel comfortable talking to me about anything.

As the truth begins to surface, Ashu finds himself letting go of some of the walls he's built around himself.

Harjit: (gesturing to the anklets) And what's this?

Ashu's eyes widen as he realizes that his father has also noticed the anklets.

Mandeep: (grinning) I gave those to Ashika as a gift. Young girls should always wear anklets, right?

Harjit chuckles, his gaze moving between Ashu and Mandeep.

Harjit: (playfully) I'm glad she has such thoughtful friends.

As the evening unfolds, Ashu's father's reaction serves as a reminder that the truth, no matter how challenging, has the power to bring people closer. And as he wears the diamond earrings and the silver anklets, he contemplates the journey he's been on—the sacrifices, the lessons, and the unexpected connections forged along the way.
