♕♔♕"Your Grace, we should get back to the castle soon. It's getting dark and the royal families are waiting for your presence at dinner."
Frederic's voice was muffled in the background by the heavy rain and noise in Harry's head as he stood in front of his father's grave. After Harry's conversation with Kirsten, he had decided to visit his father's grave that was situated in a cemetery dedicated to the Styles family next to the Sept of the Faith of the One. Getting there required journeying through the city as it was on the complete opposite side of the palace and the city, closer to the sea. Despite Frederic's warnings of how dangerous it could be to be out and about while the Messsians still posed a threat, Harry didn't care. He needed to get out of the castle to clear his head and make a decision.
"Not to mention, the people of Siremeth will recognize you and your horse," Frederic hissed quietly as Harry remained motionless.
He stared down at the white, stone statue of his father, looking grim as ever, clutching his sword against his chest. It was the very image of what his dead body looked like before he was lowered into his grave. Harry could remember the moment as clear as day and it made his heart ache a little in his chest. He felt so incomplete without his father. Like they never got to talk about what changed between them. He was a tough man, cruel at times, but Harry remembered him before Ronan's Rebellion. When he was kinder, and at ease. He remembered them hunting together, not for bonding with wealthy nobles or important royals but because they loved nature or the squeal of a boar as it got hit and the flood of laughter and cheers, they would pour for each other for the success. He wished Desmond was alive to meet his grandchildren because perhaps that version of Desmond would've emerged again.
"Harry, what's the matter?" Frederic sighed heavily, realizing that Harry didn't care about the risks of this visit. "Talk to me."
"It's nothing," Harry mumbled a lie. "I do not want to talk about it with you. This is something I must deal with on my own."
He didn't want Frederic's wisdom on his doubts about compromising with the Messians. He knew Frederic wanted compromise just as much as Reina and Reyes did. He didn't want to hear that side of the argument again, especially knowing that if he expressed his desire to maybe choose the violent path of revenge and retribution, he would be shamed.
