Silas POV:
It was Sunday morning, after making sure Ro got home safely, I took a taxi to Ki's house. The others would make dumb comments, but nothing happened. I just knew she didn't feel good, so we simply laid next to each other in silence and I hugged her once she started crying. I only knew very little about how Kiara was doing but I still knew way more than the others.
Now it was 9 in the morning and Kiara was still sleeping next to me. The house was empty, since I heard the door lock 20 minutes ago, indicating that Ki's mom was going to work.
It was just the two of them, Kiara and her mom. Her father didn't want to have anything to do with her, so he left right when he found out he was expecting a daughter. It took Ki 5 years to tell us about her father, or even show us her house. She was never ashamed of it, just a part of the life she tried to hide. Even 12 years of friendship didn't completely change that, but at least she got a little bit more comfortable.
The body next me started to move and her eyes slowly opened, still tired from the sleep and the hangover. "There is Water and Aspirin next to you," I said in amusement, because it took her quite a long time to realize where she was. "Good morning to you too, thanks tho," Ki mumbled while grabbing the glass and chucking it with the pill.
Her hair was falling into her face, her eyes were underlined with dark circles and smudges of mascara, but while I was watching her wake up more and come back to reality, I thought of all the time we spent together. The roofs we climbed and the hills we sled down over the years. I loved her, but never more than the others and I knew she felt the same way. We were just friends, just platonic.
"Ey, why are you looking at me like that?," Kiara grunted, she still looked tired, but she seemed more awake now. I laughed, which only led to her continuing her point, "Silas, you look like you just thought about your entire life, it is freaking nine in the morning, slow down."
I laughed harder, but after I calmed myself down, I filled my voice with seriousness as I said,"I just thought about our friend group and all the shit we did together," she smiled and nodded in approval but her lips fell down when I kept talking, "but it's sad that you don't think you can tell us everything, I mean we still don't know what happened between between you and Max."
"I know I can tell you everything, but saying them out loud would make it more real," Kiara was pensive, but in the next second she put a smile on again and stood up while saying "You seem like you want to know more, but give me time for a coffee first."
We went to the kitchen and she started the coffee maker. I didn't know what to say and Ki didn't feel like talking apparently because we just stayed silent. For the first time the silence between us wasn't comfortable or soft, it was heavier than usual. At some point I wasn't even able to think anything anymore, it was just her and I in the kitchen watching the brown liquid fill our cups while the scent filled the entire room.
With our coffee mugs and some muffins as breakfast in hand, we sat down on the couch and turned the TV on. The Big Bang Theory was playing but we both didn't pay attention to Sheldon and the others, because after looking at her coffee for 2 minutes Kiara' eyes found mine and she sighed, "I was pregnant."
She completely shocked me with just 3 little words, it took me a while to completely realize what she said. But the only thing that was able to come out of my mouth was a thin "When?".
"six weeks ago"
"Ehm.. do you still have it?" I stuttered, trying to find the right things to say.
"No, I had the abortion four weeks ago," her voice was steady but I heard the crack when she said abortion. She might not regret it but she is not completely happy with it either.
