First, I want to thank you if you've read any of Pushing Daisy or even decided to add it to your library. This idea, this story, has been in my head for a long time now. At least since 2018 from what documents I do have, which is five years ago.
For these past five years I've toyed with this story, calling it multiple different titles, switching around characters, and even giving up on Daisy's story for over six months in a row. I've written Daisy to be one way, then another, then someone completely different. But what has stayed the same throughout all this time is that in my heart I know I have a story to tell that belongs to the character of Daisy who struggles with a mental illness and has just started her freshman year of college.
I don't know what is special about today, but a few hours ago I realized I want to start back up with Pushing Daisy. As you may have seen, my last author's note is from the beginning of the year- and now we're almost in September and I haven't made an update or edited. But, there's a twist. This new premise is a slightly different kind of vibe, not as tense as what I've written for this story before.
I'm not going to say that this new version of Pushing Daisy will stick, but I will say that I have a good feeling about this idea. It's not too different from what I've already written but it will not be the same as what I've posted here. I also will tell you I hope to add more of the romance side to this YA genre novel. So please save this story to your library if that interests you!
Here is the new description of Pushing Daisy ~
Daisy Mae Mckinley is a stubborn girl when it comes to doing things on her own.
Since a young girl, Daisy needed to take care of herself and her brother. Although he was older and tried his best, he was not a parent. Daisy learned young that the only way to get things done is to do it yourself. But something she hasn't fully grasped yet is that some things require help from someone other than herself.
When Daisy graduates high school and decides to head into the next phase of her life, which for her is going to college, problems keep piling up that she can't handle.
Constant anxiety about anything and everything, having a guy that likes her, all while trying to make it to every class and finish all her work and socialize with her roommates who she's never met before and making sure she's getting good grades, Daisy eventually hits a wall. And at that point, the idiom pushing up daisies hits a little too close to home.
I really hope you really enjoy what I come up with, and always please feel free to let me know what you think!
Thanks again for reading and sticking with this madness <3
lots of love and appreciation,
