As disruptor blasts ricocheted off the roof above Mio's head, she finally remembered why it was a bad idea to listen to Sela.

So when Starfleet told her to fly to the Pandora System, a system on the border of Klingon and former Romulan space. Mio, boarded the U.S.S. Bismarck, a excelsior class and set out there anyway, Pandora was a backwater hole-in-the-wall not even listed on tourist maps.

Which is why Mio had been more than a little surprised a Tal Shi ar ship appear in front of them, artillery at the ready—the pilot couldn't steer it out of the way of said artillery in time to avoid a hit. The Bismarck had barely stayed in orbit before Mio could even find her voice to scream obscenities at them.

Anyway.

Mio crouched behind an console. Another blast ricocheted off the console; Faye fired back blind, her arm feeling the recoil. Mio pressed her fingers to her communicator . "Noire? Anyone?" She asked.

It crackled with static.

Jammed? Of course it was being jammed it's what the Star Empire does

Cursing, she chanced a glance over the top of her hideaway.

The gunfire stopped.

There followed a pause.

Cautiously, Mio peeked over the top of the rock.

The Romulans spotted her, yelped, and opened fire.

Mio jerked back down again with a grumble. "Guess they're not really the talking sort."

She saw out the porthole, something flashing against the blackness of space.

The warp core.

Mio paused when she spotted it.

Fucking great.

"Knew this was a bad idea," Mio muttered, No time to think, no time to plan; she squeezed the trigger in that same glide and pull of practiced muscle, Walther P99 Disruptor roaring it fired a phased blast and cut the air toward its intended target. The man screamed, lurching to the side, but Mio's sharp eyes noted that she'd only hit the Romulan's shoulder—not a killing blow. She raised the gun again as the Romulan stumbled back, sight trained between the man's retreating shoulders.

Something crunched behind Mio's back.

She turned.

Another Romulan , disruptor raised.

Mio had no time to think only one thing she raised her gun and tried to beat her attacker to the gunfire punch, but she knew it wouldn't make a difference. The asshole carried a disruptor and the barrel had already been leveled, a leering face behind the weapon promising Mio's death with a single pull of the trigger. Still, Faye tried to raise the Walther, and time seemed to slow as the enemy's arm flexed, muscles contracting one by one, finger bearing down on the trigger millimeter by excruciating millimeter—

Over Mio's shoulder, an explosion boomed.

The Romulan yelped and fell backward in a spray of blood.

Mio didn't move. She stared at where the Tal Shi Ar had fallen out of sight, without comprehending.

That explosion —where had it—? Mio headed to the Battle Bridge,a secondary bridge located in the second hull, her crew was lost killed or captured. Mio stepped onto the bridge, on the view screen she could pieces of her ship, the main saucer, and the nacells floating away, it was just the second hull left, then she saw them, the Tal Shi Ar warbirds charging it's weapons, Mio headed over to a near console and began pushing buttons, no shields, no weapons, no power, the Bismarck was in pieces, just the second hull and it was dead in the water. The enemy ship fired, Mio  braced for impact and closed her eyes.

It never came

Mio opened her eyes, she gasped, she couldn't believe it, the Bepop, a Nova class with a Miranda saucer had intercepted the blast and had saved her from destruction. Mio was happy to be in the tractor beam of the Bepop, but the Bepop had suffered great damage in saving Mio and what was left of the Bismarck, however she was grateful to be getting tower back to the nearest space dock.

Little did Mio Know the Federation Vorta was going to linked to the Bepop crew.
