❝whatever in love means❞

Charles woke up from his dream with a start. And what an odd dream it had been. He look to his right and saw is wife Camilla sleeping peacefully beside him. Blinking his eyelids, he recalled his dream. He and Diana had a third child together. A daughter. That was right. They had been happy.

He shook his head and scoffed at the memory of his ex wife, now deceased. Why in the world was I dreaming about that? He thought, it's my coronation day after all. Diana has been dead for 25 years and I've been happily married to Camilla for 18 of those.

He sighed and laid his head back down, his mind wandering back to the memory of Diana. A flash of her blue eyes, her bright smile, her blond hair. Why am I thinking about her? I haven't thought of her since the day I married Camilla. Since the day I moved on from her and her death.

He was confused and mad at himself for the conflict of emotion. Should I have divorced her? Would she still be alive if we had stayed married? Or maybe we'd of both died in that tunnel in Paris. His mind wandered back to the dream. It really had ended in 'happily ever after'. But that was just a dream, don't be stupid Charles. Fairytales aren't real.

Fairytales aren't real.

Then why do we keep believing in them?

AN:

Don't hate me. Please.

I know it was cliché but I couldn't let it end happy. I just needed to torture you guys. Make you wait a life time for me to update and then have a heart breaking ending! I had been debating either letting one of them die in the car crash, letting them both die, this ending or letting them live happily ever after. But I couldn't let them be happy cause that's not the point of the story so...

The point is fairytales aren't real and people shouldn't think royal marriages are perfect and magical like in the movies cause the truth is they aren't. They are human beings after all and have flaws.

Charles and Diana's relationship has always fascinated me. Diana especially has fascinated me. The concept of having all this money, wealth and power but being miserable is something I find super interesting. So, as a writer I love to drive deep into these things.

The chapter 'Tis the Damn Season (named after the Taylor Swift song obviously) is probably my favorite chapter and I'm very proud of it! I love the family dynamic in it, especially Edward's and Anne's. And the C & D hurt comfort is nice. Let me know what your favorite chapter is!

Overall, I'm proud of this story and hope to write another Princes Diana story some day. I just lack inspiration. Diana will forever be my idol and my roll model. She was truly a fascinating woman and if anyone wants them, I can give book, movie, podcast, show and documentary recommendations about her (or about the royal family in general).

Charles and Diana's relationship is a great modern tragedy that I think is misunderstood by a lot of people. Despite popular opinion, I don't think Charles is a horrible person. No, I don't like him but I don't hate him. I just kinda feel sorry for him. I'm obviously more on Diana's side but it must be rough not being able to marry the love of your life and being forced to marry someone else. After all Diana did say in her BBC interview that the blame on the failed marriage was 50/50. Doesn't excuse how he treated Diana thought. But none of us where there or know them so I don't think anyone should have super strong opinions on it.

ANYWAYS, sorry for the long rant (I could talk about this forever), but thank you for the love and support on this book! I am thankful to each and every one of my readers! Go find me on the second account, millie-tsversion and read my other fics there!

Love,

Millie <3
