Violet Winters pulled her banged up '87 Pontiac Firebird into the closest spot she could find at the dorm building. She sighed, ready for a fresh start on her own. She turned off the engine and it sputtered, the sound dying away. Violet kissed the steering wheel and patted the dash. "You did a great job, girl," She said to the vehicle. "It's a long way from Ohio, but we did it."
She exited the car, wrapping a lightweight black sweater around her shoulders. Shaking out her legs after the long drive was a welcome relief. Surrounding her were many other freshmen busying themselves with carrying in cheap couches and tvs and boxes marked "BATHROOM" and "KITCHEN". She smiled to herself and popped the trunk. It made a loud groaning noise.
"Whoa there!" Came a voice from behind. Violet turned to see a young man with dark hair and a striped shirt. "Hell of a car you got there." He pointed to the firebird.
"Thanks, I call her Phoenix. Somehow she keeps coming back up from the ashes." She patted the car lovingly. "You moving in, too?" She asked him as she dipped her head to retrieve a large bookbag from the back of the trunk.
"Unfortunately, no. College ain't for me."
"So, you're just creeping on girls' cars?" She smirked at him. The guy's face changed to panic.
"What? No! I mean..." He trailed off, too embarrassed to continue.
"It's fine, I'm Violet by the way." After placing a backbag on her shoulder, she held out her hand to him, smiling radiantly. Her deep red lipstick only enhancing her bright toothy grin.
"Xander Harris, at your service." He shook her hand awkwardly. "Did you need some help with your stuff?" She nodded, appreciating the assistance. She handed him another bag and a large box. She grabbed the remaining tote and slammed the trunk closed. Together they walked the halls to find her room. She stopped in front of one of the doors and grabbed a sheet of paper from the back pocket of her jeans. Xander couldn't help but stare at her curved bottom...well, her curved everything. Violet pretended not to notice.
"This should be it." She chirped. Turning the handle she found the door to already be unlocked. As it opened, they spied two people already in the room. Xander laughed.
"Buff! Will! Fancy seeing you here." He exclaimed with glee. He entered the room and put the box and bag on the empty bed. Violet entered next, bringing her tote in and placing it at the foot of the bed. Her side of the room was a blank canvas. She looked forward to getting some decorations to match her personality.
"Violet Winters," She said as she straightened up, waving at the two girls. The blonde was the first to speak.
"I'm Buffy, glad to see you've already made a friend! This is Willow." Willow waved sheepishly. "I hope you don't mind I took the bed on the right."
"No bother to me, I only need a little bit of room for my stuff. I packed light." She set down her things on the bed. Xander placed her box on the floor and flopped onto the bed. "Xander was a big help." She patted his shoulder. "You rock, man."
"I know." He said with a big grin. "Well, anyone feel like grabbing some ice cream?"
Together, the four of them made their way through Sunndale's unnerving streets. Violet had offered to drive, but Buffy had mentioned it was only a few blocks from the school. The sun had descended behind the horizon and left the sky a dark navy. They were sat in a booth with fresh sundaes in front of them and getting acquainted. You would think they had been friends for years by the sound of the laughter between them.

Spike stared from atop a hill on the campus grounds as the group of newfound friends made their way back toward the dormitory. He stood from his crouched position, suddenly alert. "No," He whispered. "It can't be her." He followed along with the group from atop the hill to get a better view. "I'd recognize that face anywhere. She hasn't changed a bit." He smirked and let out a chuckle. "Get ready pets. The big bad is back, and you--" Spike's speech was cut off as electricity surged through his body. He dropped to the ground with an 'oof'.
