Louis wouldn't say he was drunk, not really. He was buzzed, maybe a little tipsy, but not drunk. He was still able to stand on his own two feet without wobbling or needing the support of someone else. He was still talking perfectly normal, no slurred words or sentences he might regret at another time and place. He was still able to look clear across the pub he was currently sat in, his vision clear and crisp. So no, he was not drunk, but he did feel good. He felt the warmth of the alcohol pumping through his veins. He felt his nerves for the start of his new job on Monday dissipating with every sip. He felt this sort of calm creeping over him and he was able to just sit back and relax for the first time in a while.
Lately Louis' time has been filled with preparing for his new job that started in two days. He had to plan his syllabus which took up most of his time this summer. He had to go shopping for supplies because he didn't want to go empty handed. He had to set up his classroom which proved difficult when he had to decide between cheesy inspirational quotes and boring tips for revising, it was a tough decision. He wanted his students to like him and think he was one of those 'cool' teachers, not a boring old pain in the arse that nobody liked. And that's what the rest of his time was spent doing, worrying over whether or not he sounded boring or if his lessons were boring or if he in general was going to be boring. He's afraid he's lost his touch with his inner teenager long ago and didn't know what was 'hip' or 'trending' he thinks it's called now. He doesn't know and that's the problem but he shoved those thoughts from his mind fast because that's not why he was here.
Louis came here to forget about all of that for a few hours. He came here to have a few beers with his mate, to calm himself before he had to actually face his students, though he's kind of sitting by himself now since his mate had disappeared with a pretty blonde about half an hour ago, giving Louis no more than a nod of his head as he walked out of the pub with her on his arm. Louis didn't mind, if Zayn found someone he could pull tonight, Louis didn't want to get in the way of that. He was fine on his own, he's never needed someone to pull before and was quite content just sitting here observing other people try and pull, it was a good laugh sometimes. Louis was happy to just get the edge off before the semester started. He didn't need to pull tonight.
With that being said, if he did happen to pull tonight, he wouldn't complain. Especially not if it was the tall, broad shouldered, dark haired man that walked through the door just now. Louis' eyes instantly locked on him, the bottle of his beer having just reached his lips but now paused there as he took in this man. Really, 'man' might be the wrong word to use, it was obvious this boy was young, probably having just turned eighteen... Well, maybe he was a little older, it was hard to tell, honestly. His face screamed eighteen with the dark brown eyes that were crinkling adorably at the corners as he smiled softly at someone behind the bar, but his body screamed twenty three with obvious years of training at something, broad shoulders, decently thick arms and an obviously toned torso with the way his shirt stretched over it. Louis knew he shouldn't, he shouldn't even think about it because he was twenty six and there was no way this man, err, boy... whatever the hell he was, would go for him.
However... Louis supposed watching couldn't hurt, right?
Louis tipped his beer back, tasting as the beer washed over his tongue and slid down his throat, keeping his eyes on this man as he walked straight up to the bar. An older man, this one obviously in around his fifties, greeted him with a warm smile, meeting him at the bar and leaning on it to talk to him. The pair seemed familiar with each other, maybe the younger one was older than Louis thought and has been coming here for a while. The older man chuckled, shaking his head then pushed himself away from the counter to retrieve a beer that he slid towards the younger one. The two chatted for a minute but the older of the two quickly excused himself with a nod of his head and then he was scurrying off to the back, leaving the younger alone to sip at his beer.
